This is the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Make sure you take some coins so you can throw them in to assure you return. Hint-don't sit under the lamp posts, the birds sit above you and may leave a deposit on your shoulder.

It's extremely difficult to get close to Trevi Fountain because of all the people around, but if you are determined, you will do it. We took lots of pictures here.

This place is always packed! But for good reason. It's kind of one of those "must sees" when in Rome. If you go at sunset, it is absolutely stunning to see the shift between day and night. It's a whole other type of gorgeous in the evening.

When you go make sure you know the traditions. First have 2 pennies to throw, and throw them backwards. The first is for your return to Rome and the second is for your wish :)

Another of the popular "must do" checklist places in Rome. It is fun yet can be a bit challenging to locate on your own.

Throw some coins, make a wish... Marcello Mastroianni was once there.

The Trevi Fountain is currently undergoing restoration. The fountains are empty and blocked off. Not worth visiting at the moment, though surely beautiful when they're back on.

Trevi Fountain was beautiful. Worthwhile seeing and tossing in a coin. Again, lots of tourists.

The fountain is truly impressive. Just way too many tourists for it to really be enjoyable. Try late night or early morning if you want peace.

Trevi Fountain or Fontana di Trevi in Italian is the biggest Baroque fountain in Rome. It's believe that if who want to come here again, have to throw a coin into the water. So there are many coins in fountain everyday. The fountain is very beautiful both day and night.

This place is worth at least two visits, one during the day to see the celeste bllue waters, and another at light to see it lit up. It is extremely crowded though, so it could be a great very early morning activity. Plenty of places right around there to grab delicious coffee too.

There are many tourists there, but it is worth! Don't waste your money throwing coins in the fountain, this is stupidity. :-) - prefer to buy a big Italian ice cream and stay there for some time, take a good look at the fountain sculpture details. You may spend hours doing this!

Fantastic! Just a tip - no need to buy water anywhere in the city. There are free water fountains all over Rome. One of them is to the right of Trevi as you walk down the steps.

This is by far the most amazing fountain I've seen in Rome, it is just incredibly majestic with all the sculptures and the jets of water. A marvel of Roman engineering. Too bad it's super crowded and hard to take a good picture.

Despite the crowds that flock to this place, it gives a strange sense of relaxation. It could be the soothing waters, the happy people..

Description

Tradition has it that throwing a coin over your left shoulder into the fountain guarantees a swift return to the world's most beautiful city. Anita Ekberg's dip in it was immortalized in Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita, and Italian actor Toto even sold it to an American, passing himself off as its owner. Earlier Fontana di Trevi was the setting for the award-winning Three Coins in the Fountain motion picture, ensuring its popularity worldwide. Designed by Nicola Salvi for Pope Clemente XII, it was completed in the second half of the 18th Century. The statues in the center represent Neptune supported by Tritons on either side while rococo-style Poli Palace provides the perfect backdrop.
