The studio looks small from the outside but it's actually pretty spacey in the back. iam8bit is an art studio slash gift shop. They throw some awesome art shows every now and then. My first one I ... read more
attended was a video game theme tribute show by a lot of talented artists. I went to the opening which was still crowded even when we showed up pretty late. They had the classic video game arcade with a projection on the wall for people to see. Live music of people rapping about classic games (mega man, mario, donkey kong, zelda, etc). Live artist drawing on a canvas. Refreshments were complimentary. They also had an outdoor where you can take photos with some cute props. Free street parking if you look hard enough and make sure to read the parking signs. Can't wait to visit them for the nexr show.

even have an art studio for them!!! I may be a little bias for giving them 4 stars instead of 3. I came here to go see one of my favorite illustrator, Gary Baseman's exhibit. He's the one who created that cartoon show, Teachers Pet. His exhibit is until August (?) and it blew my mind. I've never seen an exhibit as creative as his. It was worth paying $10 because I was in there for more than an hour. I left the museum satisfied with what I saw. Baseman's exhibit, "THE DOOR IS ALWAYS OPEN": - I'm really sad I missed out on his opening night. Shepard Fairy DJ'd and Baseman gave everyone a custom baseman-esque "key to his home" - He created a layout of his house he grew up in and each room told a story about his childhood and his art was everywhere. I was in awe (note: i am an art geek) WARNING: Kids might not like baseman's artwork and won't want to enter some of the room cuz it's creepy. PARKING: Is free! You can see it if you enter the driveway after you exit the freeway. If you come from the opposite direction then you may miss it because it's in your blind spot. ENTRANCE: $10 for adults. I heard its free on Thursdays but they close around 5pm (check their website).

glad we picked it. The hospitality staff were wonderful and helpful, there was easy parking (hooray!), and the room itself was total modern art deco. Stand up tile shower, nice big fluffy bed, and sleek surfaces - with the option to black out your room from any incoming light in the morning. If someone were to ask where they should stay that is in the middle of Hollywood, near cool things to do, with a great room - definitely The Moment. Oh and make sure you're comfortable with whomever you're staying with...the bathroom is NOT soundproof, and the walls are clear glass. :P

Saturday nights from 7-9 PM. He plays one hour of excellent classical guitar and one of really terrific traditional native flute with some narrative. The lounge is not a bar scene but an intimate, comfortable seating area more like someone's den adjacent to the dining area in the Amaya restaurant. The chocolate martinis are good as is the food. They offer a three course prix fixe menu which varies and is usually under $25. The service has been very good, and the food has been consistently good quality and well-prepared, but don't expect five star gourmet dining. At the price it has been a bargain for what we have received. We have enjoyed blue corn dusted rainbow trout and nice filets.Ask for Sophia, the Food and Beverage manager, and you will be well treated.
