I know it's gauche to talk about about money, but I think it is important to note that my partner and I spent two weeks traveling through Singapore and Malaysia for less than $2000 US, including ... read more
airfare! Singapore can be a very, very expensive place to visit, but if you stick to hawker stalls at mealtimes, and don't forget to pack underwear (more about that some other time), you can stick to a budget. All of which is to say imagine my delight at being able to afford a gorgeous room at a stunning, modern design hotel called Wanderlust. Passport-style travel books are given to you at check-in, and breakfast in the onsite restaurant is surprisingly lush. The only potential drawback is that Little India can get bigtime noisy at night. So if you're a light sleeper, you may want to stick with the more serene posh hotels on the waterfront.

Bishop offers great access to the Eastern Sierras. Plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy here.

Grants Pass is primarily though of as a major mountain pass on Highway 5. However, it is a small rural community. Not a lot of arranged activities but the nature here is spectacular.

Great little old school burger shack. I had a hamburger and onion rings and it was really tasty. The place is close to the beach which is a big plus.
