It might be one of Santiago’s top hotels, where all the politicians go to dine after their meetings, but this hotel really wasn’t my style at all. I felt like I was being watched all the time and that ... read more
being dressed in jeans just wasn’t allowed — perhaps this is why they were watching me all the time, I’m not sure. There was a waterfall in the bar area of the hotel and, to be frank, it just seemed a waste of energy and space. I also had to wait a really long time before anyone was free to attend to me. In a hotel of this stature, I would have expected more members of staff on hand in order to deal with enquiries during busy times. I felt nervous about going into the restaurant and I certainly didn’t fit in with anyone drinking in the bar. I was glad when I left. I’m sure lots of people would love the luxury and pompous atmosphere, but it wasn’t for me.

One of the best features of this hotel was the gym, pool and spa. The gym was so well equipped that it even had a punch bag. The pool was equipped with jetstreams, heated and pretty large. The staff ... read more
were also very kind. They told me that if I wanted to invite friends up to the room, that they could be signed in to the books in reception and then head up to my room without any difficulty. I thought this was a really nice touch, particularly when visiting friends in Santiago and wanting to share as much time with them as possible. It wasn’t really to my tastes in terms of design (it was really modern and a bit cold) and it was a really large hotel. In general, I prefer to stay in smaller, personalised places, but it definitely offers anyone a pleasant stay with all the help and support one might need when away from home.

This was a lovely little hotel. I fell in love with the light, airy atmosphere. They had windows all over the place, lots of indoor gardens and plenty of plants dotted around the passageways. I also ... read more
loved balcony in the room. It was really large, with lovely plants and looked out over a pretty view. The furniture in the hotel was made from raw materials too, like bamboo, tree trunks and wood which hadn’t been cut in a factory. I loved these small touches. It gave the hotel real character. The pool area and garden was large and peaceful. It would be easy for anyone to relax in this space, whether on business or on holiday. I also loved the fact that on the weekends, breakfast is served until a much later hour, which means everyone gets to enjoy a well deserved lay in.

The pool area was one of my favourite parts of the hotel. There were lots of places to sit, the pool was huge and the patio acted as a kind of suntrap. I was made to feel welcome and looked after from ... read more
the moment I arrived. They were remodelling, with plans to finish everything by the end of August, but the developments didn’t affect the smooth day-to-day business of the hotel. One development which I wasn’t too keen on was the change of design from classic to modern. The hotel’s trying to going for a more elegant feel, but I found that the changes just made the environment seem hard and cold. There were old and new tables in the restaurant, but I thought the older ones were much nicer in design. One final touch was the bath. It had a really low side which would definitely make it easier for older guests to get in and out. I liked that design a lot.

Vietnam is such a beautiful country, you can rent a scooter and travel around. It's cheap with hotels around 25-50 dollar per night. They have direct flight from Hong Kong
