This place is not nearly as bad as you'd expect and Texas Tech is a decent university. It's just in the middle of absolutely nowhere and has only recently shed its image as oil town.

Amazing tours of NASA's Johnson Space Center are almost always on offer, but unlike 25 years ago, you can't just rock up on the day. Informative talks, inspiring to kids and adults alike.
