Trolley Stop Cafe

1923 Saint Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA
1 review

Something of a New Orleans institution, the Trolley Stop Cafe along the streetcar line on St. Charles has excellent diner-type food, and is a go-to place for tourists and locals alike looking for inexpensive eats on the way to or from the Quarter. I'm a particularly big fan of their breakfast menu.

I had to round out my trip to NOLA with a little history. This was the last stop, and one of my favorites of the entire time I spent. My friend and I came in to specifically see the Beyond all Boundaries documentary and it didn't disappoint. I just wish it had been longer! I also wish I had the ...

Fun way to get away from the French Quarter and go see a different side of NOLA. I like to get on the street car and go into the Garden District and eat at one of the many fine restaurants in that area.

Spooky and charming at the same time, the cemetery here inspired many scenes in the works of author and New Orleans' native Anne Rice. Not as elaborate or famous as St. Louis #1, Lafayette is perhaps among the safer of the New Orleans Cities of the Dead, and can be visited most mornings without a guide. The fire company tomb ...

    D Day Museum

0.7 mi from Trolley Stop Cafe

An altogether compendious place covering the D-Day operations of WWII in exquisite detail, this museum does a fabulous job of bringing history to life. If that sounds boring to you, it shouldn't. The exhibits and analysis are top-notch, and so well presented you're likely to forget that you're actually learning something!

The Odgen is a fabulous art museum holding the largest collection of Southern Art in the world; there are permanent galleries but also a few rooms with temporary exhibits. The last time I was there, there was an exhibit on Hip Hop, which was just awesome--it was well thought out and really engaging. On Thursdays, the museum also hosts a ...

Boasting a gritty-meets-artsy vibe, The Bridge Lounge is a classy refuge for those who want to drink good drinks and chat with their friends rather than rage on a bender. This spacious bar at the end of Magazine St. is slick but unpretentious, giving the patrons options of various table types – bench, wall booth, cocktail – to carry on ...

Located in a shopping center that was once an ice rink, across from a cemetery and just down the street from Commander's Palace, it's hard to get more New Orleans than the Garden District Book Shop. It's a little small and a little cluttered, but the charm makes up for it. This shop seems to draw the biggest names for ...
