The margaritas as yummy and even more appreciated because they come in pint glasses. Come here for the chips and tasty salsa trio. It's a great spot to meet up for happy hour and shrug off dinner for another day.

Tropisueno is one of my favorite Mexican places in SF. Love their chile verde entree for dinner and chile verde burrito for lunch. The salsa bar is a dream with a variety of salsas to choose from. The complementary chips must be fried in lard, because they're extremely crisp and addictive.

At night, the place is transformed from a taqueria into a sexy cantina. Their margaritas are awesome here, and very strong!

It takes a lot for me to rave about Mexican food, but Tropisueno serves up some really great, authentic cuisine - plus it was really close to my old work, and super convenient for happy hour.

Oh yeah - their happy hour? Really (really) strong margaritas is their signature libation, and they are not for the faint of heart (or the easily inebriated). They also make some killer salsa, the kind where you just use the chips as a vehicle for the dip and secretly want to ingest it by the spoonful. If you're going around 5pm, don't be surprised by a 10 minute wait.

"I think there's a difference between just getting by and being content..."

    she says.

"For me, it's how close it is to Friday ;-)"

    I reply.

It's a subtle difference, and I don't think I thought about it until she said it... You can just get by with the bare minimum but contentment implies a feeling of gratefulness. It helps you get out of bed. It makes the sun brighter and the air taste sweet.

("Me la cavo," one might say in Italian - I'm taking Italian right now - "I get by...")

Tropisueño, with its intimate and cozy ambiance, elicits more of the latter feeling. You get a wonderful assortment of delicious dishes for a reasonable price. The service is great, combining hints of upscale restaurant formalities with the humility of the small. The Chicken Mole Poblano was savory and satisfying. The Tres Leches cake was a flavor explosion of both fruits and colors.

("Te la cavi bene," one might reply back - I know Tropisueño isn't an Italian restaurant but I don't know any Spanish - "You get by just fine...")

An impulse pick, but a good (and affordable) pick nonetheless. Sometimes it's better to just choose with your feelings... and, I don't know, I felt pretty content right then and there...

Great service!! Well priced for the high quality of food. Busy, active atmosphere but in an enjoyable 'loud family' way - great place to blow off steam after work.

Great $5 HH margarita and fresh chips and salsa. I didn't have a good dining experience but do recommend to stop by before 6 pm for the great HH offerings. Go to blusteam for dinner.

I get the fish burrito and make it super. I love the food here. My only complaint is that the line gets insanely long during lunch hours, I dont know how anyone could wait in that line. But the food is good so I guess I can understand if you have the time

Great Mexican food at reasonable prices. Tropisueño provides great quality at fast food prices.

You order your food at the counter and the food is brought to your table. The atmosphere is like a sit down restaurant.

The food is delicious. I order the Civiche appetizer which was fresh and not too acidic. I also had a steak taco and the meat was quite tender. I also loved the free chips that they give you. They are super light ans crispy. It goes great with the various salsas they have at the bar!

This place definitely exceeded my expectations!

Haven't been to what I refer to as "Tropi" for dinner in awhile, but this is a go to spot for lunch and is well deserved on the rotation for the many options that await SF lunch-goers.

There is something about their chips with creamy salsa that get me everytime in addition to their other options at the salsa bar. The portions and dishes are generous and the food always comes out fast. I love this place!

Fun and funky taqueria with a nice range of options and the requisite salsa bar. We tried the shrimp tacos and chili rellenos both were tasty. They were out of tamales and mole sauce that day. Many of the dishes are pre-made and in a serving area so you watch as they put your plate together. We were there at lunch during the week and the line was huge!! They have a bar and serve margaritas but we were workign so didn't partake.

Probably the best Mexican food I have ever had; even counting my travels to Mexico. Coming from NYC, we are in the dire need of quality authentic Mexican food; Tropisueno delivered the perfect authentic experience I have so desperately craved.

It is a decent Mexican restaurant near the downtown shopping area. I went there for Happy Hour and I have to say it is a pretty good deal. Beer and tacos all for $2, and the most expensive items are $5. You can have a pretty good meal for less than $10. Their chips are really good, very thin and crispy and always hot. The best part is the they are free together with the salsa. Other dishes are just OK.

Tropisueno = delicious Mexican cuisine!! I come from Australia where there is a total lack of decent Mexican restaurants, so my boyfriend said as soon as we arrive into the USA he'll show me what very good Mexican food is, and brought me to his favorite Mexican restaurant in San Francisco!- Tropisueno! It is always busy here so it is best to make advance reservations, or try your luck and wait for some time at the door to get a table. Waitstaff are fast and the nachos and margaritas quick! And the best I would say is the chicken mole!

This is a pretty good taqueria if you're looking for some place close to the Moscone Center. They do a good business at lunch with local workers, and the qualty is good (and this is a place with a ful bar, which can make your lunch better when needed).

KInd of a whacked up margarita list. You might even find one made with a near extinct southern Peruvian tangerine that was found on the dark side of the moon.

Ok, I'll get back to the margaritas in a second.

The food here is very good. The menu includes all your favorites and prepared to near authentic standards. Some will argue that it's over priced, but this isn't the Mission nor is it a place where you go chow down on a honkin' burrito in less than four minutes. Tropisueno is a place to meet up with friends and lounge for a few hours.

Now back to the margaritas. I liked them, but did not love them. I think the problem here is they try too hard. Too much emphasis is put on finding the most creative ingredients and mixes rather than concentrate on just a few quality tequilas and a simple mix.

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing off the menu, but the food wasn't astounding. Margaritas with agave nectar were good.

Good Spicy salsas with the free chips. Large portions and good value for money.
