We loved it here so much, we contacted a real estate agent. To see everything easily and cost effectively, purchase the city pass online. You can then collect your booklet at the will call desk at a number of different locations. It was the best advice we received and thus felt the need to pay it forward.

Home of the skyscraper, taking the time to appreciate the city's architecture is a major thing to do when you're in town. There are a lot of boat tours to choose from, but your money is best spent on the slightly more expensive tour run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation. With experienced, knowledgable staff, you'll walk away tons of fun ...

I love all the bridges in Chicago because they merge beauty, photo opps and function all in one. If you see people trying to take a picture and you're not in a hurry- offer to take it. It's what a local would do.

I have gone in here a few times because I have friends who have one a party with the half-off happy hour. You can't really go wrong with that. I don't live in the area so I do wonder if I would go if it weren't for the half-off would I be tempted to go. The drinks are a little ...

The walking area along the Chicago River was well thought out. There are two levels of the Riverwalk filled with benches, small park areas and restaurants. Take a snapshot here from almost any angle and have it look distinctively Chicago.

Packed in like sardines, this Lincoln Park haven is full of tourists looking to get a local taste of Chicago's famous blues scene. $10 at the door for most weekends will let you in but arrive early to find a good seat. I definitely prefer a few other blues bars in the city, Lee's Unleaded, Rosas and also Kingston Mines.

Sleek black couches and gilded gold features make The Underground look like a classy lounge perfect for sipping cocktails over intimate conversations, but once you've gotten through the exclusive doors (probably after waiting in line for an hour!), you know it's anything but nice and quiet. Exactly what a jazz club should be....cozy, good drinks....great place talk and listen to great music. My husband and I walked passed a packed club (could hear the bass like two blocks away) and we both looked at each other and said "I'm so glad we didn't go there". ;)

Wendalla runs several sorts of boat tours on Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. I like the architecture tours that take you up the river to highlight the buildings on the river banks. Take a sunset tour so you end up on the lake at twilight to see the cityscape lit up.
