How do often do you get to sleep under the stars right next to one of the wonders of the world? Twiga is nestled on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, and consequently you get lulled to sleep by the distant howls of hyena's, moan of lions and blehs of zebra on the crater floor. The campsite is a great alternative to many of the (very) expensive lodges in the area, and I paid only $15 for a night here - compared to a minimum of $100 for a lodge. I've stayed there about 4 times now, and although it is disconcerting to wake to Maribou Storks walking about - eating trash, (truly one of the less visually appealing birds in the world), it is an amazing spot. Also a great place to meet up with travelers from all over the world.
