Featured in No Reservations, U Medvidku is a popular restaurant among locals and has been around for hundreds of years. Medvicku also specializes in X 33 Beer, a Czech beer with one of the highest alcohol content in town. The food was good and the atmosphere is lively.Recommended for:

Great value and authentic. I lived in Prague for a year and took family and friends there any time someone was visiting.
Both tourists and local eat at Medviku so you know it's legit, but you also know they'll speak English (and German and French if I recall correctly).
I highly recommend the "Potato dumplings filled with cabbage and smoked meat". Of course you should have gulash and svickova na smetane but you'll find these two pretty much every where, I find it more difficult to find nice knedliky.
Even if you go for something else, you shouldn't be disappointed. Just remember Czech meals tend to be pretty heavy so it's also nice to know you can have good appetizers (nakladany hermelin: some kind of marinated cheese with bread, or fried vegetables) if you don't feel too hungry.

Hidden on a winding street in the center of Prague, this centuries old beer hall/pub is about as authentically Czech as it gets. Yes, you'll find tourists here, but you'll also find a ton of locals; this is not, by any means, a tourist trap. They cater to locals and have refused to change that.
Grab a table in the noisy main room, order up some traditional Czech pub fare, and have a fresh beer straight from the brewery. Before the building was a beer hall, it actually housed the entirety of the brewery for about 450 years. Incredible!
Choose from a few different local brews as well as a few that are made in-house! I have to recommend trying the X-beer. It's unlike anything you've ever had. Dark and sweet and extremely alcoholic, one small bottle will quickly get you into a pub frame of mind.
You don't even have to spend much to have a great traditional meal and some beer. It's not just the exchange rate, either. U Medvidku is a bargain no matter how you slice it.
If you find that you've had to much to drink at the end of the night, they also operate a hotel upstairs. I haven't actually stayed there, but if they operate it with the same kind of integrity and humble traditionalism that they employ in the operation of the pub, I have no doubt that it is great.
