Very relaxing and good for the yoga soulful type, if you like organic feels then this is as organic you could get, good sculptures and ornaments you can purchase, as for sights its tranquil and the 100's of massive kites flying above the rice farms and maybe a chance to see 20 local kids trying to get another 5m kite into the sky is an experience a helping hand doesn't go a stray, as for the monkey forrest. These little fellas are not well mannered and the people selling bananas are pretty much taking the piss, a bunch will be gone in 5 secs and withholding bananas or bottle of water from the little fellas, they will attack you and this is from experience, when rabies is a threat it adds tension. But the town is great, water rafting wasn't far away and was on the better sides of ones been done before i'd say 8 out of 13

In Ubud, you can feel the cultural energy and enchanting atmosphere of traditional Balinese life living side by side with a breathtaking landscape. Ubud is a must-see location during your trip to Bali. You can read our article about "10 things to do in Ubud" here, Greg http://bit.ly/U5DvHN. Hope it helps! :)

Ubud is like how it is portrayed in Eat Pray Love. Very traditional, country, slow pace, religious, simple, and friendly people. The roads are very undeveloped, lots of rubbles, and lots of construction leading into Ubud. Once you are there, it's so peaceful, lush and green, rice paddies in the backyard, scent of frangipanis in the air, a very kinda romantic feel.

Ubud is another extremely popular destination in Bali. There are lots of tourist and expats living in the area. Again, you can have an extremely touristy experience if you just stay on the surface, or you can have a more meaningful one if you dig a little deeper. Explore the area around Ubud, it's gorgeous. Ubud is also a center of healing where you can visit medicine men and other healers.

I've been to both Cambodia and Bali. Two totally different scenes. I loved the Ubud area of Bali and got to participate in a cremation ceremony . I learned how to make offerings and that really seemed to delight the balinese that i wasn't just there as a foreigner. I had a driver for a couple days to get out and see the countryside and temples. I found Bali to be unique yet familiar. Nothing beats an open air villa nestled over a gorge or rice field.
