The temple itself is lovely and you have to visit. That said, the place is so overrun with tourists that you'll really have to struggle to focus on the beauty. This would have been an incredible place to visit 20 years ago... but tourism has taken its toll.

Touristy of course, but a must see at sunset with the gorgeous views of the coastline and beaches down below, the monkeys (be careful!) and the kecak dance show outdoors. People typically come here for sunset and the kecak show, then head to Jimbaran Beach for a seafood dinner.

Magnificent view, the ceremonies can be heard across the walkways and the monkeys are entertaining. The monkeys will take anything not ties down especially eyeglasses and sandals!

While the sight overlooking the ocean is magnificent, Uluwatu temple gives you an opportunity to see Kecak Dance, performed daily at sunset. Arrive by 4 pm to giive yourself enough time to explore the area before heading to the Kecak performance. Beware of monkeys which roamed around freely and tend to grab sunglasses or hat (even slippers!)
