We liked this hotel. The location is perfect being very close to Termini station and the metro so that you can go anywhere quickly. The neighborhood has improved and seems to be very nice with restaurants and the mall stores at Termini. The room was modern, good size and clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was ...

Piazza della Repubblica is one of Rome's grand sights if you're traveling by car, much like how PIazza Venezia wows newcomers to the Eternal City. It's not surrounded by tourists and there's a beautiful fountain in the center. The architecture around the Fontana delle Naiadi is equally beautiful, especially at night when the place is dramatically illuminated.

Near Termini, a visit here was the perfect choice for me on a cool rainy Roman day. Wow was I pleasantly surprised! Not only do they have TWO amazing Greek bronzes (really rare, and I was disappointed that the Boxer was at the Met in NYC during my visit) but they also have an eye-opening collection of Roman mosaics. The ...

Step through the unassuming entrance to this amazing church located in a building that used to house Roman baths. You will be greeted by a grand dome topped with an incredible stained glass image of the solar system. Inside, you can admire the old meridian which, until the mid 1800s, was used to set the clocks in Rome.

Used mainly for opera and ballet performances, the Teatro dell’Opera is also known, albeit to a less degree, as the Constanzi Theatre after the contractor who built it, Domenico Costanzi. Neo-Renaissance in design, the theatre was opened on 27th November 1880 with a performance of Semiramide by Gioachino Rossini, conducted by Giovanni Rossi, which was attended by the Italian royal ...

Rome's Teatro dell'Opera is a lovely opera house. I wish I could say the same for the art here. The last thing I saw was a tribute to Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The sets were gorgeous, the dancing less so. The 80 year old Carla Fracci took it upon herself to play the sexy nymph in Nijinsky's Afternoon of a Faun. ...

the main termini in Rome is likely to be a visitor's first experience of Rome if traveling by train or by plane if by the airport train. The terminal itself excludes "oldness" as in there probably hasn't been much upgrades done....ever, but that's ok, because we come here to experience culture, ruins, and things "classic".

By far my favorite bar thusfar in Rome. The bartender, Ricardo, was extremely friendly. The space is totally cool and the cocktails are relatively cheap. Five euros gets you a full menu of drinks, and there are also choices ranging from quality beers to a modest aperitivo option. Library books line the wall within the two rooms upstairs. Downstairs, you'll ...

If I could live anywhere in Rome, it would be in Monti. Hip restaurants, classic Italian boutiques, and a central location between the Colosseum, Centro Storico and the Trevi Fountain make it a must-see neighborhood. Small streets that aren't crowded at night lead to a piazza where young folk congregate with pizza slices and beers. My favorite gelateria (Fatamorgana) is ...

I was guided to Casa Clementina by a local ex-pat who really liked the place. This is fortunate, as I'd probably never discover it myself. The door is unmarked, and you can distinguish it only from the number 9 and a doorman out front. Cocktails are quite pricey (over 10 euros a pop), but a closer inspection of the ingredients ...

Congregating in the heart of Monti, you'll find the hip youth of Rome. With bottles of beers, bicycles and lots of chatter, they surround the Fontana di piazza della Madonna dei Monti, a large but simple structure in the relatively plain square. Nearby boutiques and gourmet eateries provide plenty to see when sitting becomes a bore. With a good friend ...

This is another must see sight. If you are going to do the tour, you mist sign up for them early. Honestly, they're a little more pricier, and they don't take you anywhere you can't see yourself. Check out the Roman sayings and old photographs hanging on the wall of this wine bar and restaurant—if, that is, you can make them out through the crowd. But don't let the bar's Roman pride make you think it's old-school. With its long list of small plates (ranging from eggplant parmigiana to couscous), great wine list, good prices, and friendly ...

Le Talpe calls itself a "concept store," which—since the place manages to be so many things at once—is probably the best moniker. The store-cum-gallery promotes up-and-coming artists and designers, particularly Italians, selling everything from their art to jewelry to clothing. Every month, all of the items in the store are switched out and new items (and designers) brought in, often ...

At this little boutique/workshop, every item of clothing is either handmade or vintage. The handmade items are made by the artisans at Le Gallinelle themselves, who both design and sew the blouses, dresses, sweaters, trousers and jackets right there. Like something, but it's not fitting quite right? No worries—the benefit of having in-house seamstresses means they'll alter it for you ...

It's quite possible that this charming, homey-yet-classy bar in Trestevere has the best Belgian beer selection in Rome. Hip plaza near the Spanish steps. Always something going on. You can buy cheap souvenirs or hire an expensive horse and carriage, so there is more than a faint whiff of the commercial. But that shouldn't be enough to spoil it.
