    Pret A Manger

    81 Piccadilly, London W1J 8HY
    33 reviews

Cheap, fresh, and absolutely everywhere in London. It's a great way to keep yourself going even on a budget and in a rush.

    Monmouth Coffee Company

27 Monmouth St, London WC2H 9EU, United Kingdom
    28 reviews

The Monmouth Coffee Company treats coffee like the sacred ritual I believe it should be. At least every once in a while. Each cup is individually filtered. The coffee is strong, high quality, rich and benefits from just a touch of milk. They are even serious about sugar. You can choose from big lumps of raw brown stuff, or sugar ...

    Ottolenghi - Islington

287 Upper Street London, Greater London N1 2TZ, United Kingdon
    14 reviews

I adore Ottolenghi. The chef, Yotam Ottolenghi, is a London institution, with a couple cookbooks outlining his inventive dishes. The salads and savory dishes are great, while the sweets are a whole realm of naughty delight in and of themselves. Definitely try the passion fruit tart. And they say the food is bad in England.

    Hard Rock Cafe

150 Old Park Lane, London W1K 1QZ, United Kingdom
    23 reviews

It's worth stopping at the original Hard Rock Cafe, the first of the ever-expanding chain, which opened in this former Rolls Royce dealership in the 1970s. To any rock fan, this is a pilgrimage. It has an extensive memorabilia collection, the same great American diner-style food, and the original Eric Clapton guitar he offered to the owners before the Hard ...

    The Spaniards Inn

Spaniards Road, Hampstead, London NW3 7JJ
    13 reviews

Gorgeous, old Hampstead pub with capacious outdoor seating that's great for summer. Nice food, good drinks, don't bother with the roasted almonds.

    Holly Bush

    22 Holly Mount, Hampstead, London NW3 6SG
    7 reviews

The Holly Bush is a warren of small rooms forming one of London's nicer pubs. It's a little hidden behind Hampstead tube, but most North Londoners know about it and have been a few times. The ales are fabulous and the menu is also good, although I found the portions slightly disappointing. What the Holly Bush does really well, however, ...

    Acoustic Cafe

60 Newington Green, Stoke Newington, London, United Kingdom
    3 reviews

Super chilled, always has the papers to read, and a great Stokey full English or vegetarian breakfast. However, the best secret of this place is the tea menu and its inventive English, which has inspired an entire era of "grippy" tea in my life.

    Indian Veg

92-93 Chapel Market, Angel Islington, London N1 9EX, United Kingdom
    2 reviews

Go on, have seconds. And thirds. This all-you-can-eat Indian vegetarian buffet is just £5 and you can even bring your own beer (or guzzle tap water if you are abstemious or on a really draconian budget). Eating alone? No need to bring a book, as you can lazily skim the text heavy vegetarian propaganda lining the walls throughout your meal.

21 Parkfield Street, City of London, Greater London N1 0PS, United Kingdom
    2 reviews

Nice coffee spot near Angel - it has free wifi which annoyingly expires, but is still free and one of the easier spots to stop for some caffeine and internet in the area.

    Diwana Bhel Poori House

    121 Drummond Street, London, NW1 2HL
    3 reviews

They say that London has great Indian food, but to be honest I was only mildly convinced until I came to Diwana. An extremely casual place near Euston Station, the menu is simple: Pooris (little fried balls filled with potatoes, chick peas, or other treats and covered in a sweetly sour yoghurt sauce) as starters, with a selection of dosas ...

    47 Wilton Way
    2 reviews

Okay, this place is not exclusively gay (not even London is gay enough to have its own gay bakery) but thanks to its location just north of London Fields, this cake shop draws in a gay clientele every day of the week. But the star of the show here is most definitely the cake. The bakers here are seriously taking ...

    Il Bacio Express

    2 reviews

Il Bacio Express has the best pizza I've had in London, good enough to satisfy my cravings when I'm most missing Roman, salty, gooey thin crust pizza. Plus, it's cheap.

    The Book Club

100-106 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4RH, United Kingdom
    17 reviews

It had been a long time since I went to a place where you actually stand in line to get in. We're probably talking about ten years or so. Good thing the line was pretty short and the electro swing music was so fun that I danced all night. The cocktails are good, the bartenders friendly, the crowd very cute, ...

    The Woolpack

98 Bermondsey Street, City of London SE1 3, United Kingdom
    4 reviews

Nice little pub for a drink and some pub grub, if you're hungry. Also allows dogs, which is useful if you've got one with you, not so useful if you don't. Food is decent and there's a pretty good selection behind the bar too.

    Lucky Chip

Netil Market, Westgate St, London Fields, London, E8 3R, United Kingdom
    2 reviews

This van serves some of the best burgers and fries (and yes, they call them fries here) outside of America.

    The Fryers Delight

19 Theobald's Rd, City of London, Greater London WC1X, United Kingdom
    3 reviews

This "chippy" serves old-skool fish and chips. That's it. There are different kinds of fish to choose from, and a relentlessly retro atmosphere. It's also cheap, and in central London.

    London Fields Brewery

365-366 Warburton Street, London E8 3RR, United Kingdom
    4 reviews

Great handcrafted beers and a typical London Fields crowd are an everyday occurrence at the Brewery. Whether you're a hipster or no, you'll probably appreciate the delicious brews, and sometimes, to be honest, I like getting out of the classic pub atmosphere.

Great little spot with good coffee and wifi - not for banking business travelers maybe but great for creatives/freelancers.

    Yumchaa Teas Soho

45 Berwick Street, London, United Kingdom W1F 8SF, United Kingdom
    2 reviews

Yumchaa makes some wonderful loose leaf teas at much more reasonable prices than, say, Fortnum and Mason. Their Lapsang Souchong and Blueberry Hill are favorites of mine. Whether shopping or checking a show, it's worth stopping in to pick up some tea or sit and enjoy a pot.
