    The Spaniards Inn

    13 reviews

Also one of my favourite London pubs. Takes you back to the 16th century. Best in summer when you can use the garden area in the back, but a winner year around.

Tucked away In a small lane in Central London, this is claimed to be the oldest restaurant in London (1798). Yes this restaurant was even featured in Downton Abbey! This is the place to try traditional British food and game meat. Dress up for a change and savour the sights and flavours of a bygone era.

    The Troubador

I love this cafe. I used to frequent it when I was living in London. It is so atmospheric. The ceiling is filled with musical instruments and the walls are adorned with vintage signs and keys. The coffee is nothing to write home about. This place is ambience ambience ambience. Sit here and be inspired to write.

Expensive, but fun. We got the champagne package. The sandwiches and desserts are tasty, but the best part of this place is the atmosphere! Where else can you have high tea at a palace?

    Hung Drawn & Quartered

Great vintage pub with grizzly name near the Tower of London. Great place to watch Rugby and my bf at the time assured me the beers were 'pukka.' Nice place to go after a hot summer ay at the Tower. Not too touristed.

Classic English pub with great beer. Even does Old Peculiar. Nice garden area as well. Local favourite near the river. Great atmosphere and not as heavily touristed as The Eagle or The Mill and/or Anchor.

    The Eagle

Pub with fun atmosphere celebrating the discovery of DNA which was announced here and also the American bar with flyers' names on the wall. Food mediocre and not spectacular beer, but must see for tourists.

    Dinner by Heston Blumenthal

    7 reviews

Mr. Burrell was searching for a great, typically British restaurant recommendation and this is his top choice. "Why? Because it is not ridiculously expensive and all the recipes are taken from ancient English cook books. He also owns my local pub and the food there is wonderfully good value!"

    The Wells Tavern

Come for the hamburgers. Stay for the Leffe. This place is just a couple of blocks from the Hampstead Heath, so a great place to stop for a pint after a walk. Or before. Or both. It's an old pub that has been redone, with a great outdoor patio area

    The Fryers Delight

    3 reviews

You will find various old-school purveyors of fish and chips around London. We like the unassuming nature, great prices, and vintage sign of the Fryers' Delight. Bonus fact: the fish in fish and chips was originally breaded as a means of hygienic transport. The fish would then be "peeled" and eaten almost like a banana.

    The Carpenter's Arms

Brilliant little pub steeped in history and was previously owned by the Kray twins. Small dogs are welcome. There's a lovely fire and a sheltered outside section round the back and most importantly it has a fantastic selection of global beers. If you're eating make sure to try the amazing scotch egg!

    The Gay Hussar

    2 reviews

The Gay Hussar (which roughly translates as a good-spirited Hungarian soldier) is an old Hungarian old restaurant perfect for wild cherry soup and smoked chicken pancakes. Synonymous with politics it’s a swirl of history, gossip and culture. Dine in the bookcase-lined ‘Mick Jagger suite’, a 12-square-foot room upstairs where the rock star was famously persuaded to stand for British parliament ...

Great pies! Order your pie Mothership style to be served with peas, mash, crispy shallots and gravy. Be warned; it's a big meal!
