Although there are branches of the University of Texas throughout the state, UT at Austin is the flagship of the state system. Located in the heart of Austin (just north of downtown), it's a public institution with almost ivy-league status. The campus is gigantic and includes lots of areas of interest to visitors including seven museums, 17 libraries (including the LBJ Presidential Library), an astronomical observatory, theatres and concert halls. Spectator sports fans have lots of options with U of T's well-known football, baseball, basketball, and swimming teams - all known as the Longhorns. The campus holds a variety of concerts and programs featuring world-class performers. If you are planning to tour the campus, the best place to start is at the Visitor Center at Walter Webb Hall (corner of Guadalupe and 25th Streets). Consider a tour of the U of T Tower, Austin's most recognizable landmark.

Even if you didn't attend UT, it's a great place to visit. The campus is beautiful and very large, with a lot of history surrounding the school.

A great place for shady walks in the morning and evening when it's not a hive of activity. Also, I love the Harry Ransom Center archive and the live music opportunities at the Cactus Cafe, Bass Music Hall, Hogg Auditorium and new KUT building.

University of Texas is about a 10 minute drive. Beautiful Campus, quite vibrant along Guadalupe St. or the Drag.

Go Longhorns! I recently returned back to UT for their event Explore UT. The campus is really beautiful and had many businesses such as stores and restaurants within walking distance.

What a place! This university makes Austin what it is...a college town full of bustling businesses and fun people. Enjoy a football game in late October and see all of the beauty this city has to offer.

UT Austin is one of the largest research universities in the country, and the central campus is located just north of downtown. The UT tower (infamous for a shooting incident) faces the state capitol building to the south, and they form two prominent features in the Austin skyline. Architecture has a stucco, kind of Spanish-mission feel, and the campus features some monumental statues including an interesting memorial to WWI soldiers with rearing horses of Poseidon and a great MLK tribute on the walk between the tower and the stadium.

The campus is amazing! Slightly biased as I went to school there, but it really is a beautiful campus. Take a stroll by the turtle pond north of the tower, see Jester, the countries largest dormitory, or visit the South Mall to relax out in the grass, any is a great view into campus life at UT.
