Stately US Capitol Building sits on top of a hill that overlook the district. Within this building is where legislatures are lobbied and laws are passed. This could singlehandedly be the most important symbolic building in the United States.

My father worked on the hill when I was a kid -- so I have memories of running down the tiled hall ways and being introduced to tall people in suits, and being told to sit still in the Congressional gallery. This was before there where such tight security measures. Every American should go to the Capitol, contact your state Senator or Congress person and see if you can go and see congress or the senate in action, take the tour, ride the little subway cars under the Capitol if they still let you. If you get a chance eat in the Senate Cafeteria - have the bean soup which is famous. see the art it is your Capitol!
