If you are looking for a place to wander pretty streets and dip in and out of nice places then this is the area for you. Krakow is surprisingly picturesque and you can easily spend time strolling the city and taking in what surrounds you. This area is good to choose, as there are so many nice restaurants and bars for when you need a pit stop.
If you go to Krakow you must visit a Polish Milk Bar and sample some traditional Polish cuisine.
A milk bar is exactly what it sounds like, a cafeteria restaurant that specialises in milk based products and traditional food. This is a chance to sample some local culture and also try the some delicious peirogi.
Mocak is the relatively new modern art museum in Krakow. Built partially on the site of Schindler’s factory the building and is stunning and the interior design in flawless.
The set up is along the lines of Tate Modern with various galleries and project spaces that have their own program of exhibitions and events.
I cannot emphasise enough how stunning the exhibition spaces are, there is a permanent collection and exhibitions, you can check out the program here http://en.mocak.pl.
This super cool burger bar, with it’s contemporary murals by Polish illustrator www.why-duck.com and amazing food, is an essential stop in Krakow. The city is a mix of traditional Polish culture and cooler, younger vibe and this bar is a great example.
Not only is this a cool spot but, the burgers and milkshakes are also fantastic and if you are in the mood for booze they have that too.
This bar, located in the market square is the place to go if you want an arty creative vibe in the bar or if you fancy getting down to some serious dancing you can head to the underground space.
The upstairs bar always has art exhibited on the walls and this is one of the main bars when world famous music festival Unsound is on.
This world renowned bar boats live music nightly and fantastic cocktails.
The decor has a fun, kitsch, cabaret feel (it's very red) and the atmosphere is relaxed, you can pop in for a drink or get food and wile away the evening watching the performers.
This boutique hotel is in a great location and is absolutely stunning.
The decor is amazing, the spa is wonderful and the building itself is pretty stunning so you can't go wrong. If you are looking for a romantic spot then this is the place as the hotel lends itself to that kind of thing and you are also wandering distance from some of the best bars and restaurants.
I have heard reports of noise at the weekend due to construction so I advise that you make enquiries about that.
This very affordable, clean hostel is part of a reliable chain and is situated in Kazimierz so close to the Jewish Museum, Wawel Castle and lots of nice bars and restaurants.
It is well designed and fun plus and the facilities are clean and everything works. There is free wifi, rooms have a bathroom, fridge and TV and bike hire is included in the price.
This is a lovely place with a very nice price tag.
This reasonable hotel in Kazimierz is comfortable with lovely rooms and nice breakfasts.
The hotel staff speak good English and are really helpful and the hotel is located really close to Wawel castle and Rynek Główny, the main market square where a lot of good bars and restaurants are located.
Wawel Castle is a Royal Palace that also houses the state art collection, you can chose whether to check out the art or just look around his historic building.
Wawel Hill where the castle sits has been the site of some kind of Royal residence since the late C900 so this is an essential stop for anyone interested in history and Polish culture in general. The castle is also a lovely building and well worth a causal wander if history is not your thing.
