If you are looking for a filling meal for a good price, look no further than Fufu. This authentic ramen restaurant has great choices for great prices. Super delicious! But beware, this is a popular spot with the locals and as the interior isn't that big, be prepared for a line to sit down. If you don't want to wait, order ahead or order from the take out window and go have your meal down by the mirror d'eau (if it isn't raining of course!)
This small tea room adjacent to Place Gambetta is a quaint little tea shop whet you can sit and enjoy the company of a friend. They have a wide array of teas as well as cakes and biscuits. If you fancy something a little more filling, they have a small menu of salads and sandwiches. The tea is a little pricey but what to be expected from a tea shop in France.
Want to go shopping? Look no further than the 1.2 km long shopping street at the heart of the city. Running from Grand Theatre all the way to Place de la Victoire, you can find pretty much anything and everything on this street!
If you are looking for a play or an opera to go to to spice up your cultural life, check out the program at Grand Theatre. The resident opera house puts on all kinds of great shows throughout the year. And even if you don't want to go to a show, at least stop by and snap a picture, it is a beautiful building and iconic to Bordeaux.
If you are an experienced traveler, you know that finding Mexican restaurants in France is like a needle in a haystack. But Arbol is the best solution to the countries lack of Chipotle and Q-Doba. Choose from tacos or burritos, either choice you can't go wrong. Great food!
Located in the heart of the city, this huge park is the place to go if you want to relax outside with some of your friends on a sunny day in Bordeaux. While those sunny days may be far and few between, go and have a stroll through the huge park or lounge on the grass and have a picnic. It is a great place to go running as it has a large connection of trails.
This burger place has got a real hipster vibe to it, but it is a great ambiance nonetheless. They have a large selection of signature handmade burgers, I couldn't imagine you'd go wrong with any of the choices. They also have the largest selection of sauces that I have ever seen at any place in France, from HP Brown Sauce to Prawn Cocktail, they've got it all. Great food for a good price!
If you are looking for a quality french restaurant without breaking the bank, look no farther than Bistro Regent. With three locations in Bordeaux, you can't miss it. While they only have three choices for the main course, you won't be disappointed. Choose between a steak, salmon, or magret de canard. Each entree is served with a giant heaping of french fries and salad. All for only 12,90 euros. A great meal for a great price!!
If you are looking for a typical local bar, look no further. A friend and I heard about this bar and went to seek it out one night, and we were far from disappointed. This quaint bar has some great drink prices as well as some good craft beer on tap. The ambiance is great as well.
As an American from the South living in France, this bar was a great thing to stumble upon. It is Western themed and takes me right back to the country lifestyle I experienced while in Alabama. If I wasn't in France, I'd expect to see all the girls in their Daisy Dukes and cowboy boots. They play popular country music (I'm not a big fan, but found myself dancing away to it) and have decently priced cocktails!
Upon first moving to Bordeaux, a lot of my friends would tell me about this so called "pirate bar" that all the students loved to go to, but somehow no one could remember the name. I finally figured it out and went, and it was definitely worth it. Upon entering the doors, you are transported to the inside of a pirate ship, fittingly so since it is a Rum bar. I'm not quite sure what me and my friends ordered, but it was a large carafe of a wonderfully fruity mixed drink for only 15 euros. Not bad, not bad at all. It has a great ambiance and is a favorite amongst the student population here in Bordeaux.
This small bar is where you will find the locals. It is a Rum bar with a pirate theme. Go in and try one of the many flavors of their Rum aghrumé for only 3 euros, a definite bargain. But be wary, they make their drinks fit for pirates, strong.
Located in the heart of Bordeaux, this English Pub attracts everyone. It has a great ambiance and is located in an awesome historic building. The architecture of the bar is wonderfully French. Come on the weekends for a live band or DJ playing. The bar staff is wonderfully lively and keeps things very interactive. Check out their Facebook page to see all the events lined up for the upcoming week: darts tournament, student night, and especially the pub quiz on Sundays (always a good time!)
Located just adjacent to Place de la Victoire, the HMS Victory is a pub that you can't miss! Check out their Facebook for all of the events they host, such as a pub quiz, language exchanges, poker night, drink specials, and much more. It is a big pub (in relation to others in Bordeaux) with a small stage that is suited for live music and bands, whom frequent during the weekends. The two stories and large outside terrace make it for a great place to meet up with a lot of your friends! Highly recommend!
