I love Armenia, I can see myself retiring to this small city. It is a nice and quiet city and very very clean compared to other cities in Colombia. It is a great place to launch from if you are looking to explore Coffee Region of Colombia. It has all the things you would need as a traveler here as well.
I loved this art museum, it was a great place to experience modern art. It has both outdoor art and indoor art. The place can not be seen in one day and it constantly is changing it's exhibits. It is worth seeing for those art lovers out there as well a great place for the family as there are a lot of things to see for the kids as well.
A nice small park just outside of the town of Cotati/Rohnert/Penngrove. It is a great place to get away and relax from the busy area of consumerism. The place was much more beautiful before the fire that occurred here, but it is still a great place to enjoy nature and trees. There is a frisbee golf course here for those who want to be a bit more active. It has a great view of the city of Rohnert Park and a great sunrise and sunset view.
Gorgeous church. It is like most churches you will find through out Colombia, well decorated and amazingly lit. It has a great high cieling and amazing decorations to take photos of. It is worth visiting. Right across the street from the Plaza De Caicedo.
A nice beautiful plaza with tall palm trees that shade the plaza from the searing sun in Cali. This is a place where a lot of the elderly men come to just sit and talk. It is a great place to relax and take some photos of the historic statue and the tall trees.
La Bocquilla is a small fishing village just outside of Cartagena. It is has a much LARGER beach than Cartagena's Bocagrande and is much less crowded. Since we were the only gringos there, we got surrounded by touts, I am sure that will not happen to you though. It is about 15-25 minutes taxi ride from Bocagrande. The beaches here a much less disturbed and worth the trip.
Want a place to eat? This is the place to do it. This area is a square that is surrounded by places to eat. You can get all styles of food, pizza, pasta... but unfortunately not Colombian. Go figure. This place is very much catered to the tourists. A great place to hang out and be seen.
An interesting church right in the downtown area of Cartagena. It is amusing. Could not find a way to get inside. So I took photos from the outside.
Great Salsa! Amazing locals and amazing music... there is not much more to say about this place. I had a lot of fun.
Crowded bar that was recommended to us by a local. We took his advice, but to be honest he didnt seem like he knew were all the night life was. The place was crowded, and was blaring great cuban salsa (slower salsa compared to Colombian Salsa). A great place to be seen.
Getsemani is the more urban area of Cartagena and a great place to get an apartment if you want a safer place to stay. It has all the things you would find in an urban community. Worth checking out too if you want to see some decent graffiti art that Colombia is known for (but better stuff in Bogota).
Beautiful beach. A fantastic view of some nice clear waters. It is a great place to check out just outside of Cartagena. The only drawback is that it is kind of crowded, but worth a visit. Try the local cuisine when here.
This place was gorgeous inside (that can be said about most churches in Colombia). It is an amazing place to just take a photo, both inside and out. The architecture here is something to gawk at.
Very easy beach to access in the Bocagrande area of Cartagena. It is filled with many people an many touts who are willing to sell you things you do not need. The beach has a lot of cabanas and umbrellas to relax under. The place is a great place to relax. Bring a friend if you do not want to be bothered.
The one thing I loved about Cartagena was walking along the walls. The walls are what used to line the coast an protect the city of Cartagena. It is a beautiful view to walk the walls and look out over the carribean coast. There are amazing things to photograph and you have a great view of the old town below you. It is a great place to take your loved one to just get closer. Feel free to patronize the local ice cream men.
I died here, well almost, being a diabetic. I was in heaven. We stumbled upon this place as the heat was starting to get to us and it was perfect timing. We enjoyed some amazing ice cream at a decent price.
