I stayed here on a weekend trip to LA to celebrate both the end of ALC and Pride -- so the centrally (to WeHo) located Mondrian was really a no-brainer. Within walking distance (just up the hill) of all the restaurants, bars and clubs of WeHo, the Mondrian provides the perfect perch for out-of-town visitors. Great views of the city from their super-trendy pool deck are worth the price of the rooms alone. The hotel itself does feel like it's lost a little of its luster over the years, and the hallways between rooms are pretty dark and cramped (a bit claustrophobic, really)... but that's probably not why you're staying at the hotel (unless you're just REALLY into hallways -- everyone has their thing).
I happened across this restaurant while searching for another, actually. Upon arriving at the other, my group unanimously decided that we had to go back to try that 'really cute place with the garden in front' instead. Good choice. Okay, so, the 'farm fresh' thing may be a bit tired at this point, but the movement started for a reason: great food. Eveleigh delivers. It's a little quirky, a lot cute, and they serve up really good food while making you, simultaneously, feel good about your culinary choices (as in, I had some sort of green smoothie with farm fresh eggs, sausage, and avocado on toast). Oh yeah, order the Avocado toast. It's pretty much exactly what it sounds like, except the bread is freshly baked and the whole thing is carby, avocado heaven. Yum.
Definitely a treat of a hotel, even if you have no interest in the nearby Boston tourist attractions. A little boutique, a little old boston charm, and a lot of really nice, new amenities make this (very centrally located) hotel 5-stars, in my book. If you're exploring the city, it's even better -- just across the street is Quincy Market and the blocks surrounding the hotel are full of bars and restaurants (and plenty of nightlife). With an underground stop just a couple blocks away, you'll be over to cambridge in no time. Tip: though the windows are relatively sound-proof, request a room on an upper floor to avoid the night-noise of the streets below!
