Well known and for good reason! Watch out for massive lines during the holidays as it seems everyone in Philly goes there for their Christmas cannolis, cakes, cookies etc.
Cool dive bar. Came here one night before we went to see a band next door at The Loew's Movie Theater. The bar itself is pretty big as it goes the entire length of the room. I liked the atmosphere and it seems that they get quite a hodgepodge of people throughout the night. I like bars like that when you have no idea what type of person is going to sit next you. I would definitely come back if I see a band next door again.
Glorious old theater in Jersey City. As soon as you enter you are enveloped by the glamorous surroundings! It's like and old theater that you would see in a classic movie. I went to see Neutral Milk Hotel here and it was a great setting for the band.
Good Italian restaurant in the Italian Market section of Philadelphia.
Established in 1900 it's the oldest Italian restaurant in the market. I give it four stars because Villa Di Roma which is only two blocks away is better and in my opinion the best Italian restaurant in the city. Ralph's is not far behind in that category so it is still very good.
I have been around in Philly so believe me that this is one of the best places to get a cheesesteak in the city. Love that they finally opened up a place in Center City!
Brilliant museum in the heart of Philadelphia. This is a world class museum rivaling those in Europe and elsewhere. Dr. Barnes amassed an unbelievable collection during the Great Depression as he sold his pharmaceutical company just before the crash. Monet, Renoir, Matisse, Modigliani, Van Gogh, Degas, Picasso and much much much more. Highly recommended for anyone from beginner to art lover!
My new favorite venue to see a band in Philly. This used to be The Spaghetti Warehouse which I think is a terrible name for a restaurant. Anyway, the setup inside now is great. A huge area with a bar and tables in the front that still feels like you are in a restaurant setting. Another bar one floor up and then a balcony setup on each side on the top floor where you can see the band and the main hall downstairs with most of the crowd beneath you. The whole place is is surrounded by wood. Also the acoustics here are tremendous.
