This is a beautiful campus that has a nice collection of Engelmann Oaks, one of which is over 400 years old. The buildings are old spanish style and you might recognize many of them from movie exteriors.
On the edge of Pasadena, near the foothills, are a couple of miles of hiking in Eaton Canyon. There are some extreme hikes not for the faint of heart. There are restrooms and water points, but watch out for snakes and poison ivy.
The Huntington is perhaps the most luxurious hotel in the area and is much more than just the building. I've stayed here on the first night of my honeymoon before flying out the next day and had a great time. Brunch, although pricey, was a luxurious treat. The gardens are wonderful....more
