The largest of all the Greek Islands is also my favorite! It is one of the largest islands in Europe with a landscape that is complex and entirely different from one side to another. Some of the most beautiful beaches are on this island. There is the Samaria Gorge where you start hiking in the mountains...more
One of my favorite beaches on the island!! The powder soft sand and crystal clear waters make this a favorite with the locals. There are plenty of chairs to rent, restaurants and bars for miles. In the summer there are huge raves that attract an international clientele, if you are looking for quiet...more
I spent my 40th birthday here, so you know that I love it. Primarily an ouzeri with mezes, it has great live music and when everybody gets liquored up it gets crazy. On the water, it's lively and has great views.

Make sure you rent a car and drive around the local suburbs and villages. Culture shock in a good way....more
A little difficult to get to but so worth it. Some of the most Spectacular views can be seen from this vantage point in an area not largely populated by tourists. You will visit this in conjunction with Sfakia.
I have flown in and out of this airport at least 50 times. It is tiny and has only 2 check-in counters. The lines are never long so you can actually arrive one hour in advance for an international flight and not be stressed. Flying in for customs is a piece of cake too. Highly recommend!...more
