It's hard to describe a city like Venice that apart from being incredibly beautiful and romantic, is a city like none other. Given cars and bikes are not allowed and cannot circulate for that matter makes boats, gondolas and vaporettos the only way to get around - via Venice's lagoon comprised of 118 islands. It is truly a poetic city of rich history, art and culture, one that was the only Republic in the Middle Ages. Take a ride on the gondolas for a true Venetian experience! Most tourists only visit for the day. If you plan to stay overnight, for cheaper accomodations, head to Treviso or Mestre, up to half an hour by train. And come prepared, Venice can be very expensive!
A stunning 5-story townhouse located on the Upper East Side, the Society is a world in itself. Undoubtedly the most important institution for illustration, it hosts 1,800 original pieces, including fashion, editorial, science fiction and children’s books. Monthly Thursday evenings are hosted for fashion illustrators drawing live models, including yours truly. A lovely tête-à-tête follows, sipping cocktails and admiring the framed original artwork hanging on the walls – don't miss the original Norman Rockwell gracing the classy bar area.
