Straits is one of the "scenes" in Santana Row for those who want to an upbeat and trendy atmosphere for drinks and people watching. The food alone is good, but not great. If you can sit outdoors, you'll be in a prime place to people watch.
At the recommendation of two Taiwanese friends, I went here to meet them for what was promised to be a delicious Taiwanese breakfast. And delicious it was! It is also kids friendly. Noisy kids won't stand out. The atmosphere is casual.
Bowlmor Lanes is a better-than-average bowling alley that's fun for groups or families. Aside from the bowling lanes, they have a huge section carved out for dining and a full bar for those who need a little boost for bowling those strikes!
Quan Hop is the sister restaurant to the ever popular Quan Hy restaurant. If you've ever been to Quan Hy, you know it's delicious, but almost always packed! Go to Quan Hop to avoid the long(er) lines and enjoy (many of) the same dishes they serve at Quan Hy such as the Banh Beo or Banh It Ram appetizers. They don't serve My Quang here though. However, they do serve a filet mignon pho! What?? The thinly sliced rare beef is high quality filet mignon, and it comes out with its own, separate bowl to be cooked in hot water, instead of your main pho bow. It's $8 (which is on the pricey side compared to the usual pho price), but it's very good. The restaurant is family friendly (I took my one year old here), and the decor is nice. A good choice to take your non-Vietnamese friends :)
Love this place!
Who can resist these delightful little bundt cakes? These treats are a perfect alternative to cupcakes if you want to avoid a frosting overload.
