Las Vegas = Disneyland on acid. It's the most surreal place on earth! Yet after several visits I find the nonstop whirs and rings of the gaming machines oddly compelling. I don't gamble, I don't shop luxe brands, I don't go to shows (well ok I did see Blue Man Group once)...so what...more
When Connie recommends a place to me, I know I'm in for a treat. Booked dinner for R & my last night in Vegas, and finally an opportunity to dine without family. As others attest, the exterior of the Royal Resort, casino/hotel housing The Barrymore, provides no clue as to the...more
Absolute bliss. I was so jazzed to see that this Tommy Bahama had a restaurant. We had enough time before meeting others elsewhere that I was able to introduce R to the TB food experience, enjoy some World Series on TV, and sample three amazing rums. I ordered the ahi tuna tacos appetizer to go with our...more
Quality buffet. Smaller number of stations compared to a megacasino buffet such as Carnival or Le Village, but choice selections in each one. Many offerings are pre-portioned, which enhances the presentation and may help reduce waste. Loved the surprise heat of Angry Mac & Cheese! Beautiful...more
I now understand why everyone's been raving about this place. The Cosmo, and neighboring property Aria, are the latest in the Vegas trend towards elegant and understated rather than loud and garish…and I like it. Their trademark 4-story chandelier is magnificent. If you tell someone...more
Been here twice and had their Black and Blue burger both times. They are big, messy, and delicious! Who'da thunk it would have taken a Mainlander who went to Hawaii and missed hamburgers to build such great burgers?
Been here twice, this after experiencing the original in South Beach. This location attracts a more diverse clientele - spotted a number of families, surprising considering the price tab. Their signature dish, stone crab claws, is an absolute must. My BIL had a steak and it also looked very good....more
Beautiful. Just beautiful. Words cannot convey. *cries* A true Vegas original! Whether during the day (wearing lots of sunblock) or at night (your Ocean's 11 moment), those water jets have an amazing way of soothing one's soul.
When you've had enough of the nonstop lights, sounds and other distractions of a casino hotel, come here. Better to say "come home" because you're getting a fully-equipped apartment with kitchen and laundry. A quick run to Trader Joe's and you're stocked for the...more
Group tours by prior arrangement only, but it is very worthwhile. Acres and acres of Las Vegas' history baking in the desert sun, hoping for resurrection somewhere. Several reclamation projects are now installed in the Fremont Street Experience.
