    Parliament Building

    3.36 mi from Vajdahunyad Vár
    82 reviews

Tours of the Parliament are held frequently, but reservations are highly recommended. My favorite part about this building is the exquisite marble featured inside, as well as the unbelievable views of the Danube you can see from the Parliament's balconies. It's worth learning the history behind it, too, as you'll get to appreciate the giant balls of iron that are ...

    Heroes' Square

    1.78 mi from Vajdahunyad Vár

It's a really stunning square surrounded by old, beautiful buildings. The statues are fascinating, they kind of reminded me of the Ringwraiths from The Lord of the Rings.

    Fisherman's Bastion

    3.98 mi from Vajdahunyad Vár
    51 reviews

The historic structures of Buda, the castle, Fisherman's Bastion and St. Matthew's Cathedral all have fantastic views of the Danube and Pest beyond. The Fisherman's Bastion offers something of a covered walkway from which you can enjoy the view. There are also stalls selling handicrafts around the Bastion and church.

    Central Market Hall

    3.61 mi from Vajdahunyad Vár
    31 reviews

Excellent market hall in Budapest. Set up as two levels, with the bottom level having the typical market offerings (fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, etc.) and the upper level having crafts. I always like markets when travelling, so loved this place, although the upper level didn't impress me that much.

We stayed on the Pest side of the Danube. This seems to be the more active area at least for tourists. The major hotels are along the river with great view of the river and Buda. Nice to walk around day or night.

    River Danube

    3.42 mi from Vajdahunyad Vár
    29 reviews

We arrived by river boat on the Danube. This is a great way to get a view of the city. The city also has a walk way along the river that seems to be busier at night than during the day. Several of the restaurants had music outside and at one there were people dancing on the walkway.

We loved the baths. Szechenyi is one of the more touristy and crowded baths in Budapest, but it was still a unique experience. There are 3 pools outdoors, but the main attraction is indoors. Make sure you go early, the indoor thermal baths (as well as the steam rooms and saunas) close by 7:00 pm. Also, apparently if you spend ...

This was one of the best things about Budapest. This island, in the middle of the city, was filled with thermal baths and natural spas. Spend a day here and that doesn't mean spend a lot of money. Great services. Very affordable.

I saw the National Ballet perform at the Opera House in Budapest. This is a grand opera house in the old world style. Glamourous, traditional, with the act of attending feeling as important as what's happening on stage. I loved the gilt and red carpets everywhere.

The City Park is located beyond Hero Square at the end of Andrassy Avenue. This extremely handsome park holds its own with anything you'll find in England or France.
