    Caracas

    Venezuela

For a second grader who had never been abroad before, Caracas was just about as exotic as he could imagine - the Amazon full of piranas and anacondas kept only at bay by the four stars of luxury his father's oil company provided. Tales of guerillas in the jungle making nightly incursions into the expat compounds, combined with a ruthless ...

One of the most beautiful spots in all of Venezuela! Based at the foot of the Andes Mountains you have a nice climate (perfect for hiking) and wonderful views. Take advantage of having Pico Bolivar (Venezuela's highest peak) right nearby. Also, don't be reluctant to take in the night life that exudes fun in this part of the country. You ...

    Maracaibo

Maracaibo is really hot! There really isn't anything worth seeing here unless you like to sweat a lot. The Lago Maracaibo doesn't really have anything to see either, unless you like to see a dirty lake full of oil. But, the people are really nice and the music is fun.

    Valencia

A large city in the Venezuela that is a connecting point for the real fun. Situated right between Maracaibo and Caracas, Valencia is a huge city that offers a lot of pollution and not a lot to do from an outsiders perspective. Don't worry about making this an attraction on your next visit to Venezuela.

If you're going to go to Venezuela stick to the coast or go down south to the Andes. Barquisimeto doesn't offer much for you to do other than go explore a big city. There are some clubs and bars, but nothing new or exciting. It's basically a stopover city on your way to Caracas or San Cristobal.
