    Rialto Bridge

Ponte di Rialto, Venice 30124 Italy
    4.5
    94 reviews

The Rialto Bridge is one of the biggest attractions in Venice. It is remarkable to see what is essentially a marketplace suspended over the Grand Canal. I actually bought a watch from a Diesel shop on the bridge. Beyond that, I would say that beyong browsing the shops is all there really is to do. The neighborhood is famous for ...

Beautiful and iconic. I want to give it just four stars for the crazy amount of tourists, but I simply can't. It's just so magnificent. Take the crowds as part of the epic experience.

Certo che si può.Anche se fa freddo, i gondolieri lavorano sempre. E' consigliabile essere ben coperti, per via del freddo e l' umidità, ma Venezia ha un suo fascino anche d' inverno, avvolta dalla nebbia.

"Hey, that's the one they have at Disney World!" I may have jokingly said as we shuffled past amidst the crazy crowds under the hot Venetian sun. It's true, however, that Disney chose this iconic bell tower for their own recreation of Italy at Epcot. This just shows how much of a symbol this really is. Little known fact: the ...

    Grand Canal

    4.5
    80 reviews

It's the stuff of dreams, the Grand Canal. I'm happy to report that it's as magical in person (more, even) than in the photos and films. One of my favorite memories of Venice was sitting alongside the Canal while watching the boats go by. As the sun sets and the lights turn on, it's an unforgettable sight.

    Palazzo Ducale

Sestiere San Marco 1, Venice 30124 Italy
    4.5
    36 reviews

The Palazzo Ducale (or Doge's Palace) was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the top boss during the days of the Republic of Venice. Located in St. Mark's Square, it's one of the most prominent buildings visible while going down the Grand Canal, mostly because it's completely flooded by tourists (no pun intended). Constructed between the 14th and 15th ...

    Bridge of Sighs

Sestiere San Marco, Venice 30124 Italy
    4
    68 reviews

Most people see the Bridge of Sighs from the exterior, as connecting the Doge's Palace to its adjacent prison. A more insightful experience is to take a tour inside Palazzo Ducale that takes you through the Secret Passageways and through the bridge where you can stop and admire Venice from the other side, as seen through the cracks of the ...

The extraordinary villa housing the private collection of Peggy Guggenheim is one of my favorite places in Venice and one of the best museums in the world. The sculpture garden is fantastic and it's a nice place to enjoy the shade. The sculpture in front of the villa is hilarious and truly captures the essence of the collection--it's fantastic art ...

    Rialto Markets

I am a big fan of local markets. In fact, whenever I visit a European city, the first thing I ask people is "Where is the local market?" The Rialto Markets is the Market in Venice. However, a lot of people don't know about it, and it is small compared to most of the markets I have been to. Hidden ...

The Arsenale is a very interesting area to visit, where old disaffected boat industry hangars are now being reconverted in trendy Offices and Art Exhibitions. It is advised specially if you are an interior designer or an architect, or just a lover of different kind of space.

This is a giant wooden bridge in Venice (notable because of the great views on top of the tall bridge and the many padlocks attached to it). Really beautiful.

Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari

San Polo, Venice, Province of Venice, Italy

I absolutely adore Frari. The funerary monument to Antonio Canova lies within the great walls of this Basilica. Only the sculptor's heart is entombed there, however. Many famous and historic tombs can also be viewed. It's well worth the visit. The Basilica itself is enormous and stunning to behold.

    Lido Island

The Lido is the large barrier island that protects the Venetian Lagoon. The sandy beaches of the Lido open onto the Adriatic Sea. I was here on Christmas day in 2008. The vaporetto ride to and from Lido was enjoyable and gave excellent views of the whole city. On the island itself was walked around for an hour or so ...
