    Gelateria Nico

Fondamenta Zattere al Ponte Longo 922, 30121 Venice, Italy

This place is great because of its location-- right along the edge of the water. Picked up the Gianduiotto, which was what everyone else in the gelateria seemed to be having: Giandula (a block of chocolate gelato) + whipped cream and a waffle. It costs more if you eat in, rather than get it to-go (they charge €1 for service), ...

    Gelateria da Bepi

Via Madonna della Salute 85, Padua 35129, Italy

This ice cream is absolutely the best I've ever tried. It is creamy, full and so tasty. Depending on the period of the year there are different flavour apart from the classic ones. It is a pity it is so far away from the city centre.

    Osteria Trinita'

Contrà San Giorgio, 17, Bassano Del Grappa, Italy

Gelato, spritz and a glass of grappa. When in Bassano del Grappa, you have to try the grappa, a grape-based brandy that is the pride of this corner of the Veneto region. I can handle my hard liquor fairly well but I can tell you it's some strong stuff right there! It's similar to the Turkish raki, only stronger, between ...

    Caffe Lavena

Piazza San Marco, 133, 30124 Venice, Italy

Cafes line St. Mark's square and one evening, Gayle, Erin, Jim, and I decided to sit down at Caffe' Lavena and listen to a small combo play a selection of classical and pop hits. The most popular was a Sound of Music medley. I thought it was all kind of magical as the music, atmosphere, and companionship came together is ...

    Al Teatro Gelateria

4772 Calle del Teatro Venice, Italy

A delicious, convenient stop for homemade gelato in Venice. We stumbled across this gelateria by accident and decided to indulge in a few scoops. The gelato was excellent and handmade (when in Italy, make sure you look for the word "artigianale" which means it is homemade on the premises) and reasonably priced. I think we paid less than 3 euros ...

    La Boutique del Gelato

Salizzada San Lio, Castello, 5727, Venice, Italy

It was highly rated according to other review sites, but in my opinion, it was just solid gelato. I wasn't particularly wowed by my flavor (the vanilla felt pretty icy), but my companions liked theirs. I would visit another shop instead... but this place IS recommended across many different sites. Go and try for yourself?

    Suso Gelatoteca

    Calle De La Bissa 5453A

So after a disastrous lunch situation that made us miss a PREPAID gondola ride with our tour group, after going inside Basilica di Marco, we found this place tucked away in the corner. Boy were we happy to find it. Out of all the gelato places we all went to while in Italy, this was 2nd only to Giolitti's in ...

    Gelateria il Doge

Dorsoduro 3058/A, Rio Terrà Scoazzera, Venice, Italy

Yep, really good gelato. This ended up being my favorite gelato place of the three we tried in Venice. The owner/server was friendly, the flavors unique (think it changes daily?), and the texture creamy. Recommended. It's also in Campo Santa Margherita, which is an open square where people hang out. I suggest you post up on a bench or walk ...
