I can't believe i don't come here more often, there is just so much to see !
Its a great place to go for a nice, simple date or just to go somewhere to clear your thoughts!
Ive been to Venice a couple times before but I forgot about all the culture and the interesting community that Venice has to offer.
Walk down the boardwalk and you get the interesting mixed of different artist with original pieces of art work. Music playing in the background that you can't help but sing a long, all at the same time basking in the warm sun !
Than walk towards the beach, sit along the shoreline and watch the sun set, you can't help but smile from ear to ear and breath in the salty atmosphere!Recommended for:

This place is famous. So it's worth seeing, but personally I didn't want to spend much time there, cause Venice beach is dirty and full of homeless people (even though I really do not have something against them). It just felt a bit awkward beeing there.Recommended for:

Off the somewhat trashy (yet loads of fun) boardwalk, lies one of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. Truly worlds away from most of the L.A., this beach is "the beach" for many Angelinos - and just a nice, warm and sunny place to relax and have a good time.

Located just minutes south of the Santa Monica pier Venice Beach is a great place to play in the sand or enjoy the amazing 1 1⁄2 mile long boardwalk. On the west side of the "walk" are hundreds of street vendors and performers.

This is an easy 1 1/2 blocks from your cottage. You are close enough to see everything but but far enough away to have some peace and quiet. The location of this cottage is perfect, you can pack a lunch and ride our 2 beach cruisers along the Famous Bike path that goes from Malibu to Redondo Beach. You can grab the beach chairs and towels that we provide and hit the beach; right where they filmed the world famous hit TV series "Bay Watch". You can even get rescued by a real life Venice Life Guard! You can souvenir shop along the boardwalk or hit any number of cafes or restaurants along the beach. Fishing at Venice Pier could be fun and so is watching the body builders as well as some pretty far out street acts near world famous "Muscle Beach"

Holy Cow! I think living in the OC for the past 12 years has definitely shielded my eyes from the rest of the world which isn't so picture perfect and clean cut. I was in for a big reality check when some friends and I walked along the Venice Boardwalk. There were all sorts of people here..grungy, meatheads, hip hoppin rap artists wanna be, bootlegged CD slingers (people still buy CDs??). There was never a dull moment and there was always something interesting/different/funky appearing before my eyes! The little shops that line the boardwalk have an array of cool knick knacks to buy. If you're in the market for some funky glasses or need a t-shirt for a costume contest, this is the place to be! Also, tons of medicinal marijuana shops if you're back is hurtin.. :P
Tip: The wierder you dress, the more you fit in! LOL!
This was about a 10 minute walk from Lemonade on Abbott Kinney so if you are lucky enough to snag some free parking behind Lemonade, you can take a nice short jaunt to the Boardwalk. You MUST eat at Lemonade tho!! SooOOO goood :)

Touristy, for sure, but still fun to visit. You can take a long walk or ride your bike down from Santa Monica beach. Parking around here is a pain but there are plenty of good eats around.

Venice Beach is a must see for tourists visiting Southern California. In Venice Beach there is muscle beach and the gym which is definitely worth seeing. The beach is surrounded by a lot of people and can get crowded and not the cleanest at times.

Strange, strange and strange!!! This place is a mess! It surely draws the WEIRDOS. I'd be scared to consume food or beverage from any place around here, with that said you'd be out of your mind to trust their tattoo shops, piercing places, botox (??? on Venice Beach wtf, no!) or even their medical marijuana shops - ummm I'll purchase my rx card near my house and buy from shops near me, thank you very much! If you are set on beaching down this way, I think Abbot Kinney is your way to go for lunch, snacks, shopping etc. I am glad my Mom and sis knew about the restrooms in Sidewalk Cafe or whatever the place was called so I wouldn't have to use the public restroom - although later in the day I ended up using them. You escape the craziness closer to the water. I tanned topless and no one seemed to have a problem with it - that was a +. What I don't understand is how one can have a flushing toilet, toilet paper, running water and soap and still make a complete mess! The public restrooms are a filthy disastrous mess.If you're into the crazy, grungy, homeless, nutso vibe of the boardwalk or just want to check some random cheap shit out - you may enjoy this place. There are some cool little things to see but this is more of an annual trip not an every weekend beachin' spot for me. Frankly I feel much more comfortable further down in Santa Monica.
