Off the somewhat trashy (yet loads of fun) boardwalk, lies one of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California. Truly worlds away from most of the L.A., this beach is "the beach" for many Angelinos - and just a nice, warm and sunny place to relax and have a good time.

Touristy, for sure, but still fun to visit. You can take a long walk or ride your bike down from Santa Monica beach. Parking around here is a pain but there are plenty of good eats around.

As an LA native, I usually never go to the Venice boardwalk unless I'm bringing a visiting friend to see the sights. It's a crazy place, full of weirdos, tourists and tacky crap. But it's fun!

So much to see at Venice Beach! It's not my favorite L.A. beach for actual sunbathing and playing in the water, but more for the people watching and the boardwalk. Bring your camera and check out all the characters selling random crafts and all types of people skateboarding and rollerblading in the sun.Recommended for:

A must see venue if you haven't been before but not a spot that you need to visit often. It get's really crowded and the stores get repetitive too so its not so much for shopping. A good place to see the local LA culture. For easy parking go here: http://www.parkme.com/los-angeles-parkingRecommended for:

OK, so as someone who lived in Santa Monica for 5 1/2 years, I generally tried to avoid the Venice Boardwalk in my day to day life. But when people came from out of town, this is a must see destination. It is crowded with people - rollerskating electric guitar players, people in American Flag speedos with boa constrictors around their necks, tourists, locals and all sorts of other people. There are tons of shops - mostly tshirt shops catering to tourists but there are a few gems tucked amongst the stalls. You can watch skaters doing tricks on the skate ramps, people playing handball, and every night at sunset there is a giant hippy drum circle which is definitely worth looking at.Recommended for:

I can't believe i don't come here more often, there is just so much to see !
Its a great place to go for a nice, simple date or just to go somewhere to clear your thoughts!
Ive been to Venice a couple times before but I forgot about all the culture and the interesting community that Venice has to offer.
Walk down the boardwalk and you get the interesting mixed of different artist with original pieces of art work. Music playing in the background that you can't help but sing a long, all at the same time basking in the warm sun !
Than walk towards the beach, sit along the shoreline and watch the sun set, you can't help but smile from ear to ear and breath in the salty atmosphere!Recommended for:

This place is famous. So it's worth seeing, but personally I didn't want to spend much time there, cause Venice beach is dirty and full of homeless people (even though I really do not have something against them). It just felt a bit awkward beeing there.Recommended for:
