One of my favorite places! Such a crazy atmosphere with never a dull moment. The beach performers are always entertaining and it's a great way to get some unique hand made art.

What can I say. I prefer the other Venice--- you know the one that's sinking. Venice here -- is iconic but has been overrun by douchebaggery, drunken madness and ornery homeless people. Breathe in the smell of urine and regret. At least you're close to the ocean.

Great place to people sight see & shopping the boardwalk ;) one of the beaches where I know you've heard, don't get in the water.. so if your looking for a dip in the water further west like any of the Mailbu beaches or further east like Redondo & Hermosa

Although Venice has virtually no reminders of the era, it was, along with North Beach, San Francisco and Greenwich Village, New York, a center of the Beat Generation in the 1950s and 1960s. The Venice Boardwalk is filled with a conglomeration of people engaged in a hodgepodge of activity having minimal redeeming qualities - rather like New Orleans' Bourbon Street but lacking Bourbon Street's fine restaurants, jazz or Mardis Gras celebration.

It's what everyone thinks Los Angeles is from TV. Great place for people watching. Not the easiest place to get to, but well worth it.
Surfing is pretty good here as well if the conditions are right.

Venice is the hippie neighborhood of Los Angeles. There are many shops and restaurants, which are based along Venice Beach. The smell of marijuana is palpable, and there are many hemp shops within the area. Also, there are druggies hovering in and out of Venice, so it's not the safest place at night. However, if you want a change from the flashiness of L.A., then this is the place to be.

This place is crazy! Especially on weekends. Walk up from Washington all the way to Santa Monica pier, it's a good amount of walking, but all the crazy will keep you distracted
