Of course this gets a high rating because your cottage is right next to Grand Canal. We have 2 boats you can take out; grab a bottle of champagne & some glasses and canoe around the canals- you won't get stopped by the cops!!!! The most charming little secret in all of LA- guarantee you will love it. Bring some bread for the ducks!!

A hidden treasure in Venice, CA with beautiful houses all around it. It's a nice place to take a walk. If you plan coming here on the weekends, parking can be a hassle but on the weekdays it will be easier and the whole experience much more enjoyable :)

Originally the canals were meant to be an amusement park resembling Venice, Italy. Today it sort of resembles a cross between a wealthy residential neighborhood, a park and a historical monument.
The canals are great to explore on foot and I consider them to be one of Venice's most interesting attractions. There's a lot of great architecture and the reflection off of the water makes for a lot of great photo opportunities.Recommended for:History Buffs

Definitely a cute area to walk around. I was there on July 4, so there were lots of people walking around who didn't live in the neighborhood...and thus good people-watching. But if you're not there on a busy holiday or weekend afternoon, it's pretty much just some very beautiful houses on an inexplicable but cool waterway in the middle of Venice beach. Worth checking out for a few minutes if you're in the area, but you could see houses this nice or nicer in many other areas of LA.

My uncle lived on the Venice Canals for 20 yrs until the 80's. He had a house the size of a large bedroom. We used to go swimming in the canals in front of his house and fish also. The houses now are overpriced and the canals do not have the quaint, cute look they used to have. Now it looks 'Hollywoodified"!

Venice's original 16 miles of canals have been reduced to an affluent grid bounded by South Venice Boulevard and Ocean Avenue, 28th Avenue and Pacific Avenue. When you become bored with the Boardwalk, a trip to the canals will be soothing.
