went for a late lunch. new chef had a great menu and the staff was truly friendly and helpful. overall better experience that across the road at post ranch inn. however post ranch has killer views and architecture. have had the budget to do anything other than a leisurely lunch at both. if I had to go back I'd return to vantana BC I'm a foodie.

One of the top two lodgings in Big Sur (the other is the Post Ranch Inn, the entrance to which is almost right across Hwy 1 from the Ventana turn-off), Ventana affects low-key luxury on its hilltop with ocean views. If you can't afford to stay overnight (and not many people can), drop by the terrace restaurant for drinks and a bite to eat, or make an appointment for the spa.

First class all the way. Probably will never get the opportunity to stay here again, but received a very generous gift and took advantage of it. Perfect getaway from reality. If you can't find the money to stay here (and not many do!) then come eat at their restaurant (I reviewed that as well). They have very affordable prices and great food with awesome outdoor seating.

Went here for our honeymoon. It was amazing. We got upgraded to the honeymoon cabin for free, which was huge and had a private hot tub on the deck.

Thy definitely go the extra mile. Aside from the amazing cabin and all the pampering, the hotel staff surprised us by bringing milk and cookies in the evening.

Beautifully designed, huge & comfortable rooms, very quiet environment, perfect vacation for relaxation except of the pricey price.

stole this from my Yelp review.

At the risk of sounding like a cheesy chick, this place was amazingly romantic and worth taking out a bank loan to afford this place. Came here for a birthday weekend getaway surprise from my BF. I have passed the little house on PCH that says Ventana Inn and never really thought much of it because you can't see anything from the highway. I also didn't think it would be much since it is not on the beach. I was very wrong.

We were first escorted by golf cart to check in, offered wine and cheese, then whisked away to our GORGEOUS suite. My god, it was impressive with equally amazing views of the ocean and mountains.

The premises are excellent with a golf cart at your service immediately. Free wifi at the library, two pools, massage room and a coed Japanese spa. Wasn't really as hot as a real Japanese Spa, but was still nice and outdoors. Our couples massage was good for me, my man wasn't so impressed by it though. The restaurant was accommodating and still served us after closing hours. This is located in the main building where reception is because their main restaurant burned down last year. The baked cod was outstanding and dessert to match.

If you want to be treated like a VIP then be prepared to pay for it because this place is far from cheap. The service is reminiscent of Inkaterra, Royal Palm Hotel, or an Oberoi.

My only complaint ironically, would be one service attendant. Though our incoming staff was great, our outgoing bell man/golf cart driver had no business being employed there. He knocked on our door while reading our newspaper and watched as my BF carried the bags to the golf cart. Had we been greeted like this my review may be a little different.

Refined luxury in the wilds above Big Sur. Insanely beautiful.
