Mahina, 10km (6 miles) east of Papeete
Located north east of Arue, directly north of Mahina is scenic Venus Point. This location is home to a towering lighthouse whose twinkle marks the location of Tahiti's northern coast to South Pacific seafarers. captains, Cooke, Wallis, and Bligh, the former of whom bestowed upon this area its name when he stopped here in 1769 to observe the location of Venus so to gather his bearings as to his location in the Pacific. Today, this is a great area for a pick-nick, with clean bathrooms and snack shop located conveniently.
