Just arrived in town a couple hours early for a client meeting. After driving through Third Street, a series of antique shops and closed restaurants, I've stumbled upon a perfect spot on Fourth Street, playing lilting singer-songwriter music, serving straightforward coffee and teas, a few pastries baked on site, and a short-and-sweet lunch menu with wood-fired pizzas. Patio out front offers outside seating on warmer days. Inside, locals post up and there's a roaster recessed behind sacks of coffee beans. Named after Hitchcock's thriller, this cafe is located a few blocks away from Mission San Juan Bautista, where Jimmy Stewart skidded upon terra cotta roof tiles in a dizzying sweat. This is a little gem in a small town.

Cool little coffee shop sits at the edge of downtown, not far from the mission that starred in Hitchcock's classic thriller "Vertigo". Get your single-origin pourover, the "spellbound" cubano hybrid or an iced coffee made in a wacky Japanese glass tower of tubing that's 3ft tall.
