Even if you're not staying in one of their swanky rooms, The Viceroy is a gorgeous place for drinks. Take advantage of their happy hour specials - $7 for select food and drinks before 7pm M-F.Recommended for:

Viceroy Santa Monica looks so plain from the outside, but once you walk in the doors, it's such a beautiful upscale boutique hotel!
Their Poolside cabana with 2 pools surrounded with trees and plants is absolutely beautiful! Such a great place to come and have a drink and lounge away the evening.
Recently, the last time here, we were guests here for the The CW station's promotion of the new series, Emily Owens MD. party located in the intimate Bristol Room.
The room was small and intimate and upscale romantic decor. We also got a chance to lounge around the outside and had delicious finger foods cater by the hotel.
My only complaint was that it is Valet Parking only! Although you are here for an event at the hotel, there is
no complimentary parking( like The Hotel Wilshire, where guests of hotel and events get Complimentary valet parking!)
Valet parking only $15! Plus tax if using a credit card??! Wtf? The plus tax if not paying with cash made the hotel policy seems so ... fill in the blank ______! Minus 1 star!!Recommended for:

This review is only for the Lounge. Came here on Saturday night, and I was not impressed.
The clientele here is definitely the business trip / cougar variety, and I finally got a chance to feel young again! At night time the outside feels like a labyrinth, and I didn't feel like there was any flow at all. The bars were in weird places, the DJ had a "dance floor" but it would be totally awkward to use it, and the drinks were $15 for mixed drinks. No thanks.
I haven't stayed in their hotel, but with so many other spots to choose from in Santa Monica, unless I was on a business trip and tired, I would skip this lounge all together.

As with all the various places in the world, it matters not where you are but the company you keep.
Known for its posh crowd, decadent interior and spacious outdoor cabanas, Viceroy is definitely a spot you want to hit up when visiting Santa Monica. Just don't take anything seriously, and armed with a good group of friends and a stiff drink- you'll be fine. Don't fall into the pool now and drink responsibly.
Drinks are 15 dollars, valet is 10 dollars first two hours, 15 after. Rooms are pricey starting at around 500. You're located right next to the water so you're paying for the scenery.
Tip: just drive around on the small streets like Bay or Neilson, there's always free parking around.

This Kelly Wearstler decorated hotel is lots of fun to visit and mixes fun and comfort perfectly. The rooms are comfortable and bright and room service items are delicious and range from weirdly good chicken wings to Caesar salad to Italian meatballs. The Viceroy is on the West Side of Santa Monica, just west of the Santa Monica Freeway. Rental cars can be arranged through the hotel and cars can be dropped off for guests, by the car rental place just across the street from the hotel. The pool and the bar are both fantastic at the Viceroy and the restaurant, Whist, is also top-notch.

Love, love, love this hotel. A few of the female employees were a little "snooty," which amazed me since if you're working there, you probably can't afford to stay there; but whatever. Otherwise, my husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

From the street, The Viceroy almost looks run down, like its been exposed to wet salt air for ten too many years. But once you enter, it reveals its true nature: an upscale, borderline luxury but with a hint of indie hotel that knows its better than its competitors in the area (not all, but most) The staff was extremely attentive and helpful, and many were local, meaning they all had good recs (not just the concierge) The Viceroy is a popular place for people visiting relatives to stay, rather than, say, major conferences or large tourist families/groups. As such, it keeps a cool demeanor amid the bustle and sometimes chaos of downtown Santa Monica. Parking was expensive (valet only, over $20 per day) and I can imagine that would have been worse had I stayed longer. My room was not used much, just for sleeping, as Santa Monica and the beach were right outside! It was very comfortable and I can’t imagine anyone being unhappy with theirs. Be sure to head just across the street to ChaCha Chicken, a delish jerk restaurant, and down the street to The Huntley Hotel, which has a fantastic restaurant (didn’t try The Viceroy’s in house spot, Whist, because The Huntley had been recommended to me previously.)Recommended for:

The Viceroy in Santa Monica is a descrete upscale hotel. They really have a cool, intelligent staff. Pool is immaculate and you're right across the street from the beach. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very clean and lush with marble everywhere. There is a bar right by the pool with cabanas available. It's located within walking distance of 3rd Street Promenade so finding something close to eat or a movie will be no problem.Recommended for:

Cosmopolitan and shagadelic at the same time. The place marries colonial British formality with a mad Mod 60s sensisbilty, united in an unexpected yet alluring color scheme of parrot green, driftwood gray and wavecrest white. Everything flows fluidly into the next eye-catching attraction from the minimalistic front destk to the chic Cameo Bar.
The hotel is considered a hotbed for hip locals seeking a cosmo, a shag, or both.Recommended for:

This Viceroy is a beautiful fusion of sophistication and contemporary luxury. The standard room was stylish and offered great comfort. The bar by the pool offers delicious exotic cocktails and a romantic atmosphere when the torches come to life at night. Dinner at the in-house restaurant ‘Whist’ was very nice. Service is standard and valet $20++. The area is good, it is a 5mins walk to the beach and 20mins to major shopping areas, the Promenade on 3rd and the SM Pier.Recommended for:
Just 2 blocks from the beach and famed Santa Monica Pier, the bold and dramatic Viceroy Santa Monica appeals to cosmopolitan guests in the recording, entertainment, and fashion industries – and tourists who want to drink in the funkiness of the surrounding area.
The lobby and gathering areas feature dramatic décor: over-sized white chaise longues, high-backed chairs, deep sofas, and glass cocktail tables. In addition to offering 24-hour room service, Viceroy Santa Monica is home to the French-California cuisine of Cast restaurant. What's more, the boldly designed Cameo Bar entertains guests with private outdoor dining cabanas surrounding 2 outdoor pools - a prime location for celebrity watching.
When not watching for stars, you can work out in the hotel's 24-hour fitness center, which is stocked with the latest cardio and weight-training equipment. After your workout, you can relax with massages or in-room beauty and spa services. Need to stay connected? Wired and ... read more
