The Victorian is a real gem of a find for downtown Vancouver - a hotel that isn't overly expensive but still has great style. The building is more than 100 years old and every piece of furniture and art in the hotel has been meticulously selected. The original hardwood floors are gleaming, the bedding is pristine, and the antique dressers and chairs are so cute you want to take them home! I also loved how they balanced old and new, so even though you're staying in a heritage hotel you have have an iPod dock and LCD TV mounted to the wall.
The price is very reasonable for the quality and the location (you can walk to Waterfront Skytrain) and I appreciate that they offer an option with shared bathrooms to make it more reasonably priced.
There are a few negatives that, if you're fussy, might spoil the stay a bit, though they mostly relate to the age of the building. First, there's no elevator so if you get a room on the 3rd floor be prepared to haul your luggage up some stairs. It can also get a bit stuffy in the room and there is no air-con. Lastly, old buildings aren't known for their sound-proofing, so expect to hear some noise from the hallways!Recommended for:

A solid three star with some 4 star qualities. This hotel is located on the border of downtown and Gastown and is easy walking distance to many of the cities attractions.
Pros. Price, one of the most inexpensive hotels in the area. Location, as I mentioned above, you will have easy access to some of the major sights. Parking, a private gated lot in back for $20 per day. Comfortable beds.
Cons. Kind of quirky, and the hallways can be noisy.
Overall I enjoyed my stay and will return again soon.
