The Vienna Mozart Orchestra is a delightfull live performance experience taking you back hundreds of years to Mozart's days. The 30 member orchestra, which combines musicians from the local companies, performs with wigs and costumes of Mozart's period, and plays only Mozart's works (except one) in 3 rotating venues in Vienna between May and October, 4 times a week.
I have been to this twice, both times in the gorgeous golden concert hall of Musikverein Golden Hall. This venue has an orchestra section, with a balcony section that goes all the way around the second floor, like a loft of sorts, or mezzanine.
The baroque music of Mozart, the gilded venues, and the costumed players takes you magically back in time with Mozart. This is a treat that any visitor and music lover would enjoy! Both times that I went, they finished off the Mozart program with a grand finale, not by Mozart, but that other Viennese musical treasure, Johann Strauss, and his classic and timeless Blue Danube Waltz.
