In the most randomest out in the boonies place! which makes it all the more awesome!
I'd say its a fairly big space and parking is decent.
Pricing is good. Service is relatively quick. You just order and plop yourself somewhere.
Order of Choice:
SAMOSAS! They are so meaty and hearty and just yummmyyyy!
Obviously you should order the other dishes too! They are good as well.Recommended for:Foodies

When it comes to street snacks, there's nothing I like better than Mumbai-style chaat. The pav bhaji is always a good choice that is less well known some other Indian snacks. The salty lassi is also great if you are looking for a change from the usual mango flavor. Vik's is fast, clean, and colorful. The Berkeley marina is not far, so take a stroll afterward to walk off all that aloo tikki.

If you are looking for good and cheap eats in Berkeley neighborhood, look no further. Vik's Chaat is not your typical Indian restaurant. Granted Indian food are mostly not expensive, Vik's Chaat went one step further by streamlining the kitchen into an almost 'industrialized' operation. The food court style dining area might not look that fancy but your food is always made to order. Everything came out fresh and delicious. It is casual dining at its finest.
Despite the modern decor, the food is no fusion style. Everything is 100% authentic.
Love their samosa. Love their dahi batata puri. They have a great selection of Indian dessert pastries too.

I've described Vik's to many people as the ideal Bay Area restaurant. Easy parking. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Good for groups. Takes credit cards. Green practices. Delicious and inexpensive food. What more could you ask for really? I've eaten at Vik's dozens of times and it's always a hit with whoever I bring.
For Indian food novices, the laminated picture menu next to the utensils will help you order. The restaurant is set up cafeteria style, so after you order you have to listen for your name to be called for each dish you bought. You also have to bus your own table.

Groovy South Asian grocery store near 4th Street in Berkeley, just off the freeway. The aisles may be crowded, but they had all the raw ingredients I needed to put together a killer fish curry at home, including cheap bags of spices, fresh curry leaves in the fridge, and even some pretty darn good pre-baked naan bread. What most people come here for is the Indian snacks and sweets, many made to order, in the cafeteria at the back.Recommended for:Budget Travelers

A little hard to find, but worth the search. The food is excellent and cheap. The interior and service is somwhat sparse, but who cares? Beer would be nice to, but I can have that with takeout.
