yea didn't think this place would be grand since I was rather scared of the surrounding areas.
As I was driving I said to my friend... "Umm... I think were in the wrong place! There's a bunch of run down buildings... its deserted! NOBODY's here! this is NOT a happening area.." well the latter part is correct!
HOWEVER! It's like a secret hidden gem!
we got there around late 10ish.. and left around 12ish and there was a freaking LINE!
Pointer! Parking is Available however...must pay $6? I think.
Pretty fun place with live music and interesting drinks!
Definitely a good idea to go with a group of friends to have some drinks... relax...have some quality time with no creepers or weirdos!Recommended for:

Pros: Great ambience, super busy Saturday night. Overall I had a lot of fun. The drinks were unique and amazing. Hanzo is my favorite because i love sweet drinks and I would also recommend Bella Donna.
Con: pretty crowded and it took a while to get the drinks but it's worth the wait if this is your first time there. Don't pay with your credit card if you're ordering drinks from the side bar, bring cash. The reason I'm giving 3stars instead of 4 is because of the douchebag bartender I had. He took forever to make peoples drink because he was goofing around. He told my sister to give him a kiss if she wanted him to make a drink that's not on the list. I asked him for a specific drink I wanted that was on the list (but didn't know the name) and he kept mumbling or slurring that he didn't know what that was (it was the only drink on the list with a strawberry garnish). A girl next to me asked for a glass of water which he served then he pushed out of her reach. What pissed me off the most was that he forged extra $4 onto my credit card tip. Becareful If u see a shaggy, skinny, white bartender at the side bar on Saturday night.Recommended for:

This bar is such a gem! It has everything I'd want for a night out-- live music, delicious and fresh hand-crafted cocktails, a diverse beer list, good food, and my favorite, outdoor patio! The bartenders are super friendly and will make whatever your heart desires. The patio area has ample seating. The food is great for dinner or a midnight snack-- last time I was here I had their corn-on-the-cob and ceviche. It was a perfect 5th meal =)

Nice little hidden spot in dtla away from the tall buildings. It's close to little Tokyo and offers a lot of drinks and snacks. The owner seems to like making things out of wood and created lots of wood type structures like a huge scale connect 4 with wooden pieces.
Def a place to drop in and eat and drink during your rush hour traffic, a hidden gem inside LA

Great bar! This place is located kind of in the middle of nowhere but once you come in the vibe is pretty cool. Live music, bacon popcorn, pretty drinks! The burgers look good also :)

One of my favorite places to get my drink on!
If Villains Tavern was a person, he’d be that guy that sported a mustache before everyone and their dad’s started to. He’d be that guy that freelances graphic design in the day and enjoys playing his banjo at night. All in all, Villains Tavern has character. Filled with random knickknacks, this place serves up some awesome craft beers and delicious food that pairs nicely with their drinks. The live music is a big plus!

Fun, Fun, Fun is how I describe this place. When you come here with the right kind of people (hippies, pirates, drunkards), it gets pretty crazy. They have board games that you can check out, cheap drinks to get you wasted.
4 stars instead of 5 due to their middle of nowhere location.

It was kind of hard to find, tucked away behind a bunch of sketchy warehouses in a ghetto part of DTLA. Don't be frightened by the homeless, or the scummy street, as soon as you pull into the parking lot, it almost feel like an oasis for hipsters in a vast ghetto.
The bar is really dark but the outside patio is really cool and fun place to hangout. Drinks are very reasonable, and the bartenders are fast. Parking is difficult to find in their lot due to the popularity of this place, and street parking is very sketchy.

From the outside, Villians Tavern looks like where Beetlejuice would hang out. He's a villain, right? No? Eh?
Villain's Tavern is dark
Villain's Tavern bleeds gothic decor
Villain's Tavern has only single-stalled bathrooms
Villain's Tavern hosts great live performers
Villain's Tavern mixes up creative cocktails
Villain's Tavern serves their drinks in mason jars
Villain's Tavern supposedly has delicious french fries
Villain's Tavern bartenders take time to listen, even with a large crowd
Villain's Tavern wine pours are HEAVY
Villain's Tavern's location and neighborhood is questionable/sketchy
I'm getting chills *dr. evil pinky*

My review is limited since I only had Hanzo and some food when I went to Villains Tavern but this review is based on Hanzo + food + ambience/decor of Villains Tavern!
I first discovered Villains Tavern when my friend Leah threw her birthday celebration there. She asked all of us to go to her favorite bar in LA. I should have known it was going to be amazing if it's Leah's favorite spot because she's artsy and definitely has a style of her own. Villains Tavern definitely reflected everything abotu Leah!
Villains Tavern is a low-key spot that's nicely decoured. It's not a huge bar so it can get pretty packed, almost shoulder to shoulder but it has a nice ambience that makes you comfortable at the same time. They serve good food (especially their garlic parmesan french fries!) but more than that, i definitely fell in love with their cucumber+gin drink called Hanzo. It's not too strong for a drink mixed with gin and it's nicely refreshing with the cucumber kick. I also had some warm honey fruit ish mixed drink that was also good but forgot the name.. In any case, Villains Tavern is a hot spot that you definitely want to share with your good friends and enjoy some good food & drinks! Stop by when you get the chance.

I don't think I have ever quite been to a bar like Villains. I guess it's technically an outdoor bar because the majority of Villains is under a tent, but it also has a really cool indoor area with what seems like a private upstairs room. The design of the bar itself is very unique, and the cocktails and craft beers that this place serves are hard to beat. It's also pretty funny that the men's restroom is located in an outhouse outside.
The scene here is very hip, and it can get pretty crowded, so if you want a mellow night, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you want a fun, lively, night with a nice crowd, Villains is for you.

Great hidden bar in the middle of nowhere!! It's next to the bridge and located in an area that looks abandoned (at least at night). They had live music and a pretty outdoor area with good seating. They make specialty drinks which was quite good! This would be a great place to meet friends for happy hour or late night drinks...good mixed crowd or ages between 25-45.
