Villas Clarita is a totally unexpected. From the outside, it looks like a fortress with a few palm trees sticking out of it. Inside, however, it is a set of apartments with full kitchens surrounding 2 courtyards—one with a great pool, the other an outdoor yoga studio and lush garden. The apartments are, on the whole, sparse but very spacious with fully equipped kitchens, big living rooms and bedrooms. They’re perfect for travelers looking to occasionally cook for themselves and/or hunker down in Puerto Morelos. (All with daily maid service, of course.) They're also great for families who need a bit of room to spread out. Villas Clarita is located in a residential neighborhood just a couple blocks from the beach, which is especially nice if vacationing like you live in a place is how you like to travel.Recommended for:

Count this as yet another great little apartment-style hotel in Puerto Morelos; they’re definitely in ample supply in this town. Occupying a large plot in the middle of a residential area, the villas here are spacious and well-equipped, with full-size kitchen, one or two bedrooms, and warmly decorated living spaces. Near the entrance is a large clean swimming pool, which is great on a hot sticky day, though I do wish there was more in the way of umbrellas or shade trees. On the other side of the property is a spacious garden area with a large screened-in studio for yoga, meditation, reading, etc. Bottled water is supplied, as well as daily maid service—a welcome feature that’s not typically offered at properties like this one.Recommended for:
