We showed up around 10pm and the line wasn't that long. Go down the stairs with walls covered in artsy graffiti and you enter through a wondrous door camouflaged in greens.
The club was spacey and beautifully decorated in Alice and Wonderland theme! Lil crows, umbrellas from the ceiling, bird cage lamps, ginormous chairs, deck of cards from the ceiling... I love all the details! It got pretty crowded around 10:30 and finding a place to sit was a bit challenging.
DJ was great but the dance floor was small. Yummy wine! I want to try their cheese plate next time!

There is no way of sugar coating this. Syrah is by far the most unique, fabulous, creative venue in all of San Diego County. If you have only one opportunity to go to the Gaslamp Quarter do not hesitate one millisecond; go directly to Vin De Syrah on 901 5th Ave.
Without ruining the fun for you first timers, I’ll give you a few key points on why I LOVE this place.
The adventure begins just by trying to locate 901 5th Ave. Keep your eyes peeled. You may be wandering around the block a few times.
Next, you must find how to get in. (That’s all I’m giving you!) Beware! Guests that have already made it in are watching you!!
When you finally make it in to this fantasy land you are immediately taken to another world. Those of you familiar with Alice in Wonderland will feel very much like you’re a character in the movie (both animated and not). The oversized chairs, the outrageous centerpieces hanging from the ceiling, the wallpaper; the details around the entire venue were so thought out. I’m truly impressed with every inch.
Do not come too hungry. The menu is limited, but perfect for a before dinner snack (if you ever leave) or something to go along with a glass of wine. This is a wine parlor for goodness sake. We feasted on the cheese board, veggie board, and the meat board. “The Coconut Gouda was amazing!”
Our experience here has made us huge fans and I know we will be recommending this spot to everyone we know for any birthday party, girls’ night out, date night, dance night, promotion celebration, anniversary, and any other reason to celebrate.

Came here last weekend. It's kind of like a speakeasy (sp?) because you have to go downstairs to get here. Once you get down, you are surrounded by vines (sort of) with lots of chairs and couches to lounge on. Not sure how much the drinks were because I didn't pay, but it was a nice place to sit down with some friends and have a few drinks. I definitely wouldn't mind coming here. Only con is that this place closes around 1am!!! Pretty strange..

This bar/club has it all; interesting decor (like Alice down the rabbit hole), creative cocktails, good snack gourmet bar food, and plenty of comfortable seating. Depending on the day, you may need to make a reservation for bottle service because it is very popular and gets packed!. We were there on a Friday. There was a burlesque show and then a DJ started spinning vinyl while a girl played violin, awesome!

If you're into the pretentious clientele base and bartenders, this is the place for you. I've only been here once and never had any motivation to come back. They have great creative decor though. For that I give them 3 stars.

Syrah is an amazing Alice in Wonderland inspired wine and full bar parlor. Bottle service can be affordable when choosing wine over spirits. The food consists of meat and cheese platters for the most part, so eat before or after, but great snacks.
