A day-trip from Florence, here you can visit a tiny home, said to either be, or be very like Leonardo's birthplace, and you can also visit the very interesting museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci. I loved the ambience here, olive groves, rolling hills, sort of like the background landscape in so many of Leonardo's paintings.

Vinci, as in de Vinci, as in Leonardo's home town. It's a small village actually, about half-way between Firenze (Florence) and Pizza, and is home to what is, in my mind, the #1 museum in Italy, dedicated to Leonardo de Vinci, the Engineer. It displays Leonardo's engineering sketches and scale models of his inventions, and proves yet again that this dude was a real genius. Don't miss it!

As you may have guessed, Vinci is the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci. The town just outside of Florence sits surrounded by the Tuscan hills in a landscape of vineyards and olive groves.
