A day-trip from Florence, here you can visit a tiny home, said to either be, or be very like Leonardo's birthplace, and you can also visit the very interesting museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci. I loved the ambience here, olive groves, rolling hills, sort of like the background landscape in so many of Leonardo's paintings.Recommended for:

Vinci, as in de Vinci, as in Leonardo's home town. It's a small village actually, about half-way between Firenze (Florence) and Pizza, and is home to what is, in my mind, the #1 museum in Italy, dedicated to Leonardo de Vinci, the Engineer. It displays Leonardo's engineering sketches and scale models of his inventions, and proves yet again that this dude was a real genius. Don't miss it!
