California has more wine regions that just Napa and Sonoma, but perhaps none are more surprising than Lodi. Between Sacramento and Tahoe is this Mediterranean take on a winery mini-mall. The beautiful oranges, reds and earth tones blend well with the wrought iron and giant wood doors of this 1940s distillery-turned-wine plaza. About two miles from Highway 99 and five miles from I-5, follow the signs to Highway 12/88 and Lockewood. There are a handful of wineries here that do tastings, but the architecture alone is worth a visit.
