This 4 star hotel is pretty swanky. It’s located downtown near most of the major tourist attractions, as well as several metro stations, and one of the city’s main train stations, Rossio Station. The VIP Eden is a very unique looking art deco building, with palm trees in the center of the hotel (outside the rooms). Idiosyncratic shapes and structures comprise the hotel’s design, and make it very hard to miss from the street. You won’t find a fitness center here, but there is a lovely rooftop pool, right next to the café and breakfast bar. From the top of the hotel, you can enjoy sweeping views across downtown, the castle district, and parts of the Tejo River. All of the usual amenities are available here, including a babysitting service, Internet access, laundry facilities, several meeting rooms and a very helpful staff. For those of you who would like something centrally located, but a little different from the standard hotel, the VIP Eden just might be the spot for you.Recommended for:

Stayed here for ten nights in Oct 2010 and the staff were really accommodating before and during holiday about our disabled access requirements. Apartment was great for three of us as we had some privacy and a place to lounge in private - cooking facilities basic but welcome - and the roof terrace was fabulous. Some of the best views we saw were from there and it was a great way to relax while feeling the buzz of the city. Could not have asked for a more convenient location.

From the outside, the hotel looks like it would be nice and plush; but those perceptions are immediately squashed when you enter the lobby which is basically empty and looks more like a corporate lobby. The staff was inconsistent- some were really friendly and others were unhelpful and a little short. The rooms themselves were plain awful and reminded me of a motel back in the 60s. It seemed as though the hotel did not make any updates or renovations to the rooms in quite some time. The only benefit of staying here is that the rooms come with a small, basic kitchen that allows you the opportunity to cook if you want to. However, given the small quarters of the rooms, I doubt that cooking would be a pleasurable experience. Overall, I would try to choose elsewhere to say.
