If there is one thing I could do over again as a tourist, this would be it! There are several tours that you can do. I like the one that includes sailing through the caldera, a stop at the mud baths and ends at the bottom of the famous hill (that you must climb) allowing a view of the famous Santorini Sunset. Grab a cocktail when you reach the top and savor the moment. Spectacular!

From the volcano you have a view on the whole Caldera, but you have to get on top of it (approx. 30min walk) and this might be challenging in a sunny day in august. Most guided tours gets here and you can stay approx 1 hour to climb the volcano. Training shoes are highly recommended.
Hot Springs are quite disappointing as I was expecting more. On top of that it's also quite dangerous as you can get easily injured by hitting one of the rocks hidden by the dark water.

I think although it sounds very tempting to see the so called Active Volcano and try out the hot springs..its not worth your time in saanto rini. Volcano is not quite active and for a hot spring the water is way too cold. Skip it if you are here for 2-3 days. Might as well enjoy teh beach.

Firebrand of World History, place that is main character of many stories about Santorini Archipelago.
Santorini volcano has erupted 11 times so far, but it is believed that ~1630 BC eruption, which was one of the most explosive in history, created the huge Caldera that you can see. At the same time, previous island Strogili (round) collapsed 500m in the big blue of Aegean Sea. There is a theory that this eruption, also called Minoan eruption, indirectly affected the disappearance of Minoan civilization on the island of Crete, by creating a gigantic tsunami. Minoan civilization was considered to be the most culturally advanced society of that time. http://www.santorini360hotels.com/landmarks/nea-kameni/nea-kameni-volcano
