If you don't want to pay the $$ to go to the top of the Space Needle or Smith Tower, consider this free alternative. Located in Capitol Hill's sprawling Volunteer Park, this tall 1906 brick structure is close to the Asian Art Museum and provides a great 360 view of Seattle (assuming the weather is clear). You will have to climb many steps on a spiral staircase (there is no elevator) but it's a great view that's easy on the wallet.
